This class is designed for players who already know the rules of chess and are ready to sharpen their skills with deeper strategy and technique. With guidance from a coach rated 1800+ FIDE and experienced in international competition, students will analyze classic games, solve tactical puzzles, and learn how to create winning plans on the board. We’ll go beyond the basics to explore powerful middlegame tactics, advanced endgame play, and strategic planning—the tools that separate casual players from confident competitors. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Recognize common tactical patterns such as forks, pins, and discovered attacks. Apply key opening principles and build a reliable opening repertoire. Transition effectively from the opening to the middlegame. Develop long-term strategies, including piece coordination and pawn structures. Master fundamental endgames and know when to simplify or complicate a position. This class is ideal for players who want to compete with confidence, sharpen their tournament performance, and start thinking like advanced strategists.

To begin with, pupils will learn that data can be presented in the form of a list of numbers or objects, or as a table, chart or graph. They will look at how different types of data can be recorded before using and analysing these representations to solve increasingly difficult problems. In addition, they will also find simple summary statistics, including the mean average. Pupils will work with given data sets, as well as those they have collected. In order to encourage them to appreciate that data and statistics are all around them (and not just in mathematics), examples should be set in familiar contexts. As such, pupils may look in magazines and brochures, as well as on the internet, to find real-life statistical use. The study of statistics offers an opportunity to reinforce pupils’ understanding of number, place value and the four operations in the solving of problems. More specifically, graphs, charts and tables may offer useful links to time, fractions, ratio and proportion. It is important that such connections are made explicit, and that pupils have a chance to use statistics in other topic areas as well.

I am an NHS fully qualified mindfulness teacher, who has worked in secondary schools as a class teacher for over 14 years. I have seen the stresses of life increase and increase year on year and decided to retrain as a mindfulness teacher to help myself and my pupils cope better with these stresses. In this course, we will explore the roots and effects of stress, and explore a range of techniques that could benefit you in dealing with everyday stress more sustainably. I am not going to make bold statements saying every strategy is perfect for everyone and will work 100%, rather I adopt a method of exploring a wide range of strategies to see which fit best with your unique personality. These techniques are based on mindfulness practices and utilize the most modern scientific findings in the realm of positive psychology to help adapt your everyday lifestyles to boost your outlook.

Business Management is a difficult subject in the IB as there is lots of vigorous content in the course. With personalised attention, students can delve deeper into complex concepts, receive targeted guidance on exam preparation, and develop critical thinking and analytical skills essential for success. The Business Management curriculum demands a nuanced understanding of theories, case studies, and real-world applications, therefore, it would be especially helpful to have a tutor who understands business concepts and has a keen awareness of the IB's unique assessment criteria. In this class we will go over past papers, different business concepts, definitions and tools as well as practice writing paper 1 and 2 essays. Individual support with this subject will allow for students to achieve a better understanding, receive one on one help, where it's easier to ask questions compared to a classroom environment, and learn the subject through a past IB students point of view. I joined the class in the second year of IB and although I missed learning much of the course in the classroom through developing an appropriate method to learn missed content myself I managed to achieve a 7, a top grade, in my final examinations.

I have a distinct passion for teaching and never fail to take it upon myself in ensuring my students or even friends truly understands certain concepts when they seem confused, either by using fun analogies or interesting facts and tricks that might help them within the classroom in their learning. I promise to offer engaging lessons to all students and evident progress with frequent lessons. Most teachers these days just teach for the sake of teaching without any passion, but I like teaching and I ensure my students will learn and improve with my teaching style.
