I am an Award Winning Film Music Composer of Short and Feature Length films with distribution on platforms such as Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Sky as well as official selection in over 40 International and Academy Award Qualifying Film Festivals, including Cannes, Hell’s Half Mile (Michigan, US), Los Angeles International Shorts, FilmQuest and Urbanworld (New York, US). My soundtracks are distributed on all major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc) and feature scores composed for electronics, Full Orchestra, small ensembles and genres like 20th Century Orchestral, Minimalism, Motown, Avant Garde, Musique Concrete and many more.

As your piano tutor, I want to teach you how I learnt piano, and show you how to be creative with music, at the very least for enjoyment, but also for any professional aspirations into composition.

I start by familiarising my students with the fundamentals of music at the piano, how the piano is structured, arpeggios, baselines, chord sequences, melody sequences, etc. We take these fundamentals and build sophistication of musicality with a dynamic curriculum.

Lessons are structured by familiarising with musical concepts by a demonstration, playing together, and playing solo in a way that aims to be accessible and sensitive to the student’s sensibilities.

For lessons at the Student's residence, please ensure that you have a piano or electric piano that is tuned (N/A for electric), comes with working sustain pedal, and offers you inspiration.

About Me

I am an Award Winning Film Music Composer of Short and Feature length films with distribution on platforms such as Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Sky as well as official selection in over 40 International and Academy Award Qualifying Film Festivals, including Cannes, Hell’s Half Mile (Michigan, US), Los Angeles International Shorts, FilmQuest and Urbanworld (New York, US). I grew up in North Wales and I first discovered a love of music in secondary school during a composition lesson on putting a basic melody to a chord sequence. Inspired, I found my Father’s stowed away 1980s Casio keyboard, where I began to experiment and learn tunes by ear. As my skills developed, I began to compose my own music, which was the beginning of a professional career in composition for films.

As your piano tutor, I want to teach you how I learnt piano, and show you how to be creative with music, at the very least for enjoyment, but also for any professional aspirations into composition.

Hello, my name is Oscar and I am a Violin and Piano teacher from the UK, now living in Bristol, after several years of living abroad.

I've been teaching and performing on both instruments for 5 years, during, and after my studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. I have taught children from the age of four, up to adults in their late sixties, and I find all spectrums of age and ability rewarding and engaging to work with. Regarding Violin tuition, I am happy to teach up to any level. On the piano, I, however, currently prefer to teach up to an ABRSM grade 8 level, and not far above it.
My musical endeavors, whilst focused predominantly on the Classical style in my early childhood, have become quite varied and I am a great lover of many different styles. I play regularly in Klezmer bands, Celtic Folk groups and I run a Gypsy Jazz Collective, besides performing with Orchestra's, Small string ensembles, and as a Solo Violinist.
Whilst I wouldn't consider myself to be an expert, I thoroughly enjoy guiding people through the early stages of learning to improvise, and I am equally comfortable working with students in this way as I am teaching in a more traditional, classically-orientated manner.

Hello! my name is Sarah. I have a certificate in Classical Piano Performance. I have years of experience in teaching music in different languages (Arabic, English, German and French).
In 2020 I finished my master's in Music Therapy in Germany. At the end of my studies, I did my research on online music playing and wrote my thesis on music interaction through online platforms which gave me a great deal of experience when it comes to online teaching. In my online lesson, I use several cameras from several angles to give the student the chance to see what I am doing.

In our composition lessons, we’ll both learn how to get more from basic elements, like pitch and rhythm, and also the things we can do to help make a composition more poetic. We can work on how to get more music from fewer ideas to create a consistent musical language, and also explore the idea of opposites in your compositions, blending and smearing contrasting elements to add depth and complexity to your work.

Through the analysis of great music, the composition of miniatures, and feedback on your current projects, you’ll both increase your technical fluency and simultaneously learn to love and develop your unique voice.
