I am here to guide you through a crash course of whatever programme you want to get into, whether you're interested in the actual ABRSM qualification or just want to take up piano / singing / theory / songwriting as a hobby.
I tend to make my lessons appropriate to every student on a personal study level. I consider that every age, personality and practice level processes information differently, especially in a creative field. Although sticking to a tested curriculum, my teaching pace can be extended or reduced depending on the student's time and dedication. Being a recent graduate myself, I apply a student-centred approach to my teaching style, prioritising the primary goal standing behind the student's musicianship. On top of personalising my curriculum, I have previous experience in teaching according to the ABRSM grading system (1-8) and Suzuki, as well as helping students with school exam preparation.

About Me
Recently a graduate of ICMP (Institute of Contemporary Music Performance), I am a full time singer-songwriter, playing bar residencies around London (gigging at least 3 nights a week). My days are filled with my other two passions - teaching music and working as an events coordinator.

Born in Moldova, I relocated to the UK aged 13. My background is based on classical training (piano and musical theatre). I have been in music education / work since I can remember, relocating to London at 16 to pursue a (still developing) career in songwriting and music management. I started teaching fellow uni students and my friends 2 years ago to support myself and build a network. Starting off with piano lessons, I then expanded my teaching skills to music theory, vocals and songwriting. Since then, I've been practising teaching professionally, expanding my experience to all ages and levels, as well as continually expanding my range of qualifications.

I started playing piano at the age of 4, soon taking on singing around the age of 9 and then getting into musical theatre and acting for vocational training on top of school.
Having written my first song at 11, I never went a day without writing music again, soon making it my career and choosing commercial music over musical theatre - an act that turned into a 2:1 Bachelor degree completion at ICMP.

Juan
Hi music lovers,

My name is Juan Ignacio. I'm a multi-instrumentalist, guitar technician (I repair/build solid body and chambered guitars), music tutor and producer/mixer.

I have 23 years of experience as a guitarist and 18 of them have been as a guitar tutor (beginner, intermediate and advance).

I can teach you at my private studio or at yours. Each lesson will be unique, fun and creative. I will provide you tools which can be applied to songs you love, while we'll be also working on developing important skills such as improvisation, understanding music theory, chords, scales and much more.

What would I ask from you? Passion and commitment.

Send me a message if you dare to enjoy learning guitar!

All the best,

Juan

TUTORING EXPERIENCE:

I've worked as a music tutor providing private lessons and also for different music agencies in London (UK) including: London Music Centre, London School of Music and Musiko Musika. I've delivered guitar lessons at Spotify (Charing Cross Office), different primary schools and kindergartens. In 2018, I taught Brit Award-Winners Bastille how to play the traditional Argentinian rhythms

BIOGRAPHY:

Juan was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of nine he started teaching himself how to play guitar, bass, keyboards and drums; before joining local bands and performing around the country.

After studying sound engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Lanús, he worked as a live sound engineer and separately on a number of music productions in his home studio. He also trained as a luthier/guitar technician, building and repairing stringed instruments alongside his father, using his surname as a brand.

In 2014 Juan moved to London to develop his skills and connections. His passion and commitment to music led him to working at guitar repair workshops around the capital city, including Camden Town and the well-known Denmark Street. He repaired guitars for artists like the legendary Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Mercury Prize-winner Michael Kiwanuka, Grammy-winners Mumford & Sons, and King Krule. He later taught Brit Award-winners Bastille how to play the traditional rhythms of his home country.

In 2017, Juan started composing a wide range of music genres for all kinds of audio-visual media productions, including advertising campaigns for: Samsung, Coca-Cola, MasterCard, Nesquik, Avon and Breil

At the same time, he played with a host of different bands as a guitarist, and busked around town. Juan was hired to work as a guitar technician at Abbey Road on live recording sessions. During this period spent in the studio, mastering engineer Wharton spotted Juan’s potential and encouraged him to focus more of his attention on writing, releasing and performing his own material

Extra information:
I can provide an electric, acoustic or classical guitar.
