Music composition - a deep and comprehensive approach to master the tools
From 103.39 £ /h
Composing music is very similar to writing novels. Of course there are "novels" and Novels...and the secret to create expressive, compelling, and successful ones is the ability to write with emotions, tension, and conflict.
With music is exactly the same, and in order to to so, musicians needs to have "at arm's distance" all the tools and knowledge that will allow them "to sculpture the air in the performance into something" (F. Zappa)
As a musician, have you ever wondered:
what if I replace this A min. chord with an E min. 7 ?
is it better to stay "Tonal" or go "Modal" on this measure?
what if I establish a stronger emotional response by changing this scale fragment into a Phrygian?
shall I drive more of a rhythmic feeling by leveraging quartal harmony?
what chords could I actually ask the guys from my band to add to this measures so that my solo would sound more interesting?
how can I phrase this better to that my songwriting drives a more melodic and fluid verse?
If at least once in your "music lifetime" you asked yourself any of these questions without finding a satisfactory answer, this course might be right for you.
Please contact me, and together we will discuss your needs, your goals, your challenges.
Cheers,
Max

About Me
Hi, my name's Max and I leave nearby Zurich (Switzerland).
Since I was a little kid music had a very strong magnetic attraction on me.
Thanks to my parents, I had the chance to start playing around with keyboards and pianos since my early years, until I decided I wanted to know more and I started taking lessons.
Through the several years of piano lessons I've become a good player, but something was missing. I could read and play music sheets, but I was lacking the deep understanding of "why" the music I was reading was written that way. To mention a parallelism, "it was like being a good book reader, but without really and deeply understanding the meaning of what I was reading".
I decided therefore to start my journey towards a deeper understanding of music, its theory and principles, and this led me to learn from some of the greatest musicians; I've learned melodic development, harmony and its complex world, songwriting, etc. and I've now decided I would like to contribute a little by helping others with my very same interest to "settle the thirst for knowledge".
Hope I get to know you soon, and share together this beautiful form of art called Music.

Education
I attended several Berklee lessons and seminars in harmony, improvisation and songwriting from some of the greatest musicians currently performing on stage, worldwide.
Experience / Qualifications
I've been playing music for more than 30 years, moving from different styles (from Rock, to Progressive Metal, to Jazz, to EDM, etc.).
Played in different bands (cover and own songs) for over 20 years around Europe, and the biggest characteristic that sets me apart from lots of the musicians I've been dealing with is the curiosity to always "dig deeper" in the topic of music; I like learning new things, and understand the reasons why things are the way they are. If you're as passionate as I am, please join me on this fantastic journey and you won't regret it.
