Music Composition, Music Theory, Solfege and Improvisation.

I specialized in contemporary music composition in Bucharest, Birmingham and Paris having finished with honors my Bachelor, my Master and my Doctorate degree in this field. I also have a pedagogical degree and 2 years of experience in which I taught music composition, musical forms, poliphony, orchestration, music theory and solfege at the National University of Music from Bucharest. I am now doing a 2nd Master in Film Music Composition at the ZHdK.

This class is for both beginners who want to compose music as a hobby and to aspiring professional composers. The main topic of my doctoral thesis was the compositional idea and the processes involved in the creative undertakings. How does one reach the final stage of a composition from just a few ideas? How can we improve this endeavour? What strategies and techniques are needed in order to do that?

The class will be customized for each student so in order to achieve a certain objective in music composition the lessons can include elements of music theory, harmony, poliphony, orchestration, improvisation, music notation (Finale) and music production (StudioOne).

Although solfege and improvisation are extremely useful (I dare say even indispensable) for a professional composer, they can also be means to an end for passionate music lovers. Solfege and strategies that come with it can help your singing and music sight reading. And improvisation is such a fun and relaxing activity that I think everybody should do it!

Songwriting & composition lessons! For music enthusiasts!
It is important to me to respond to the specific wishes of the student. That means that you can show me what you're musically at right now. For example, this can be a song that you are writing. I will look at your compositions with you and give you feedback and tips. I will also show you different approaches to composing that can give you new ideas or are helpful if the writing process gets stuck. We look for inspiration in examples from music and try to explain our theories. I am stylistically very open and have experience from string quartet to pop songs (with pre-production on Ableton, Garageband etc.) to big band (notation on Sibelius). I just love the music and am happy to share my knowledge.

I am a guitar teacher from Edinburgh, Scotland with a strong focus on developing practical musicianship and enjoyment of playing the guitar. I can help you from the beginner level into finding your own style and relationship to music. The lessons heavily revolve around the musical areas that you are interested in, we will do things like look at your favourite guitarists and songs, breaking them down into their fundamental parts, and developing the class on how to understand what you are playing. I have many years experience playing in live bands and can help you in many ways with developing your playing for groups and performances. I can also help with the recording aspect of playing music, both solo and with groups. Here are some of the genres that I love to teach: Alternative and Classic Rock Air tapping, Opening Tunings Classical and Spanish Classical Heavier and Experimental Genres Ambient and Psychedelic with effects pedals Playing with Fretless/ 7 & 8 string guitar I like our lessons to be structured and goal orientated, we often have an online lesson diary together where I keep notes of everything we are doing in the lessons, where you can add your own notes and things you would like to work on. I find this is very useful to keep you progressing with the guitar at a good pace. Please just ask for more information :)

Guitar / Bass / Ukulele / Theory
The course that I propose is BILINGUAL FRENCH / ENGLISH, as well as 2 BOOKS. Age and musical taste are not restrictive when in the program, you can with qualitative daily work (not quantitative) quickly observe your progress. Here the pleasure of playing music is put forward. The kind of music you love most will be the focus of the course, their codes and secrets will be the focus of our study, that's what I want to share with you. We can do technical lessons and simply learn together how to play one or more songs of your choice or mine, enrich your game with this approach and your repertoire! (For example, We can re-arrange the pieces and make them more original by approaching the system (CAGED), and enriching their chords, resulting in new positions, new techniques and new sounds, using arpeggio techniques rather than strumming for 4-chord pieces, voicing and fingerstyle techniques, in short, expanding the instrument's playing fields and playing skills to keep progressing in your game and improve your rehearsals ...) If you make a request, this program is obviously accompanied by the pleasure of learning more in theory and being able to directly apply new knowledge on its instrument and identify its common or rare use in the pieces discussed in class. In this case, the theory is translated to be accessible to anyone, both for those who are connoisseurs and for those who discover everything from absolute zero. The exercises, songs, and theoretical explanations offered throughout the program are organized in an order of progressive difficulty. I wrote and produced 2 books of my method to learn the guitar and the music, that I sell to accompany my course and your apprenticeship in the best conditions and so that you can continue the course even at home and to review etc ... . There is ONE BOOK OF COURSES containing all the theoretical and practical program of the year, as well as a BOOK OF EXERCISE on the ranges and the modes that you can obtain directly. You can find here an indicative list of objectives that I propose in my theoretical program, which can of course adapt to your request. The general theoretical objectives of the course: --- Tuning / tuning and knowing his guitar: * Standard Tuning * Drop Tuning * Open Tuning * Adjust the optimal tension of the strings * Adjust the shaft axis * Adjust the action of the strings * Choose the strings adapted to the style of play / tuning * Change his strings -Know his chords: * Triads: Fundamental State & Inversions * Tetrads: Fundamental State & Inversions * The chord progressions of the Range * Arpeggio techniques (tapping, sweep, 1/2/4 fing.shape, etc ...) --- Know his scales and his modes * The Mode of the Major scale * 3 Modes of the Minor scale: Natural / Melodic / Harmonic * Modes of the Pentatonic range: 5 positions * Modes of the Blues range: 5 positions Etc ... --- Technique to the Pick / Plectrum / Tab / Pick (Electric Guitar): * Alternate Picking * Fast Picking / Tremolo Picking * Hybrid Picking * Palm Mute * Natural Harmonics * Pinch Harmonics * Artificial Harmonics * Shredding * Tapping * Sweep Picking * Legato Picking --- Strumming / Hand Picking (Acoustic Guitar) * "SnareDrum" percussion on the guitar * Arpeggios pinched with 4 fingers + thumb * Rasgueado (Flamenco Technique) * Generic Strumming * Fingerstyle Picking * Two-finger picking + Legato for fast melodies (eg a solo) -Play the metronome * exercises on click * practice on song riffs -Learn his favorite songs * without thinking about the difficulty, nothing is impossible with the right methodology -Improvise * choose ranges and positions * to place oneself rhythmically, to finish on the judicious notes -Theory of Harmony * Understand harmonization and its practice -Theory on the Melody -Theory of Rhythm

Learn Solfège, improvisation, composition and harmony
I am a multi-instrumentalist (saxophone, transverse flute, keyboard), composer and arranger (SACEM member since 2012), excellent improviser. This course will allow you quickly, whatever your instrument and your technical level, to understand and master the chord sequences and the articulation of musical language according to these sequences. In addition, you will learn the most frequent or rare harmonic structures used by composers. And, theory notwithstanding, you will learn to develop your ear to identify harmonic structures. This course also includes an introduction to the history of jazz.

Bastien
Classical saxophone / contemporary / improvisational approach / harmonic understanding / basic solfège
Student at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. From practical lessons to theoretical notions, I know how to adapt to the student and his interests to provide a course that really brings him the elements that will allow him to quickly flourish in the musical field. With already 4 years of course experience in non-profit organizations and in particular, I usually train students of all ages, beginners or more advanced. I am open to a large number of musical styles, current or old, focusing my thought on a "musical whole". I currently specialize in classical and contemporary saxophone but I am also very open to improvisation and live music such as jazz and the styles that derive from it, but also to electronic music. My final goal is to allow the student to express his ideas in music, and that he really evolves and flourishes in what pleases him. I take beginners without any knowledge of music theory. I am available in: * Region of Brussels. * Region of Tournai occasionally. * Online, via webcam lessons
