Music Tuition Across the Board - Guitar, Music Theory, Music Tech and Composition (from Jazz to Pop to Classical)
From 35 £ /h
I have over 10 years of music composition, production, and performance experience. Having studied at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (Jazz Guitar) and Leeds Conservatoire (Jazz and Production), I incorporate my education background in jazz and classical music to bring an in-depth perspective on teaching the likes of the guitar, music theory, composition, and production for a range of ages and abilities.
I can also provide additional support for students studying GCSE/A-Level Music, as well as delivering unique and personalized lesson plans tailored to musicians’ and artists’ own career goals and aspirations (from recording to music business). I teach in both 1-1 and small group scenarios, both online and face to face.
As an actively recording and touring artist and session musician, I have worked with a huge array of different musicians, artists, and producers and have been exposed to a broad range of genres worldwide. I use this knowledge and experience to bring a unique and fresh approach to teaching music in range styles and techniques, from Jazz to Hip-Hop to Classical Music - whether that by analyzing and examining a tune together, learning to improvise over your favorite piece of music, or simply playing for the fun of it.
It is important that I grasp an understanding of where my students are at with their instrument or subject before we begin learning together so that I can plan and ensure I approach the lesson in the right way.
I provide materials in advance of a lesson, such as worksheet activities or listening references, to allow enhanced learning as well as efficiency during sessions. Most of all, it is important that my students feel relaxed and that they are learning what they love. I make it my challenge to bring something fresh and new to every lesson.

About Me
I have extensive experience in the management and administration of an independent record label, a platform that strives for the equal representation of all women within the music industry. I have over 10 years of music composition, production and performance experience. As an actively recording solo artist and session music, I have had my music played across BBC Radio 6Music with Gilles Peterson, as well as on BBC Radio 1 with Huw Stephens. My different projects have ranged from composing and producing soundtracks and sound design for independent films, to managing and delivering Album and EP release campaigns. Since studying at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (Jazz Guitar) and graduating from Leeds Conservatoire with a 1:1 (Jazz Composition and Production), my work has taken me to venues and studios all over the UK and has led me to work with a range of independent artists, composers, engineers and producers across the board, as both a collaborator and an educator. I can deliver organisational change and creative solutions and have been impactful in my roles in all sectors. I am passionate about music and scores across all genres, as well as the representation of all cultures within the music industry, and my value is realised through the successful management of multiple creative projects. I carry extremely strong interpersonal skills and am trustworthy and professional with very effective all-round communication abilities.
I have a wealth of experience with my work as a session musician and freelance creative, with external commissions of composition, production, beat-making & sound design for independent artists and musicians. Collaborators include Maya Law (‘Hitchhiking’ EP - production, guitars & backing vocals), Dlore (‘House That Ain’t A Home’ single ft. Maya Law & Galli - production, guitar & vocals) and Leo Lore (‘Sorrows Golden’ single - guitar composition and arrangement, keyboards & synths), incorporating classical, jazz & urban music, electronics and scores. Other works includes: a 4-month collaboration with Falmouth dance group ‘Company Nexus’, to create soundscape and composition that works intrinsically with movement for live performance; original score & sound design for ‘FCR Music Presents: Women & The Creative Industry’, and recording and producing my own 10-month album project ‘AHLKE’, released on my label FCR Music in 2019, involving the likes of session musicians Taz Modi (Submotion Orchestra, Matthew Halsal) and Simon Beddoe (Submotion Orchestra, Abstract Orchestra) and mix engineer, Dom Howard (Submotion Orchestra, Ruckspin, Anchorsong). I am currently in the process of recording and producing a new solo EP under my own name, which has been funded by the Help Musicians 'Do it Differently' Fund, due to be released in 2021.
