Fine Art, History of Art and Creative Play lessons

Fine Art can be a confusing, and often inaccessible subject. However, creating and engaging with art can also be empowering once you have the understanding of contemporary art practises. It is my intention to engage both children and adults in creative play, and discussion, to create exciting lessons.
Lessons will often be tailored towards the individual's interests, linking them to relevant artists and artistic practises. A wide range of materials and processes will be explored in the lessons, including painting, drawing, sculpture and digital art, allowing students to find their strengths.
As a Fine Art and History of Art graduate it truly is my passion to ignite, distill, and grow a person's interests in Art, Design and Art History. I have experience in creating and teaching lessons for students of all ages, from 4 years of age up to adults.
I also have experience tutoring GCSE and A-level students in the trickier aspects of a Fine Art qualification, where jumping through the hoops and tick the boxes that the exam boards require can often take the joy out of creating. My aim is to help students get the grade that truly reflects their engagement and enthusiasm for art, guiding them through the certain requirements that can often feel confusing or frustrating.
Whatever level of understanding and ability the student may have, these lessons will be challenging, creative and rewarding.

Freya
History of Art for A-Level, Bachelor's and Beginners!
One of the main goals I try to achieve as a tutor is to encourage my students to explore the world around them from a new perspective. With 1-1 teaching, I am able to create lessons that are specifically tailored to my student's interests, weaknesses and concerns and from this nurture a solid learning style that they will be able to take with them to further education. Currently, I am studying for my second degree in History of Art and have strong and extensive knowledge in structuring essays and approaches to the humanities. Honing and improving essay writing skills will prove invaluable to students when reaching higher education and exams which I believe my tutelage would help with! I usually have a methodical approach to learning where each lesson is planned out with upcoming exams, weak subjects and repeated mistakes in mind. I always find that my students work better when they have small and achievable goals to reach in each session. As an example, my lessons are structured with upcoming homework as a first target with each subject's homework being one goal smashed. After that, revision or any marked work with mistakes/problem areas is looked into and divided into sections/goals that they can achieve. I usually create a points system where with enough points they win a small prize. This is not a requirement of my teaching but I find it works very well! I also discuss with parents before starting tutorials what they know to be their weaker academic points, how best they respond to teaching and any feedback they may have from teachers with regard to the work outside school. Lessons are always planned with the student's learning style in mind and I am always open to adapting and receiving feedback from parents, teachers and students. Should a student find my teaching style, not to their liking, I will always be happy to change and amend my style to fit them.

Creative Exploration Workshop: Discover Your Potential. Online.
A nine-hour online workshop to explore your creativity and experiment with artistic techniques This workshop, suitable for all audiences, is designed to experiment with and explore artistic techniques. The results will surprise you. Any technique is an excuse to play, to break the rules, and to experiment. We should feel free to try without worrying about the final outcome. As an advocate of the creative process, I believe that the goal is not the result itself but rather an element we sometimes discover midway. Unleash your unconscious and flow throughout the process, which, on this occasion, is more important than the final result. We will enjoy the journey because it is the only thing that truly matters. In this workshop, we will express ourselves freely, release blockages, overcome fear to enhance our creative potential. We will also learn to break and discard the work we've done. And, of course, to have fun.
