I provide online reading sessions to children who are learning to read in English and/or who would like to practise their reading skills with a native English speaker. I have extensive experience teaching English to young learners, in particular, in teaching children to read using the Jolly Phonics programme. Each reading session lasts approximately 30 to 40 minutes and includes written feedback of the session, and access to online materials e.g. pdf levelled books, worksheets or links to useful resources.

About Me

I am a qualified and experienced Early Years Teacher with extensive experience teaching children to read using the Jolly Phonics programme. Currently I am working in an International School in Brussels as a Reading Support Teacher, as well as providing lessons to children online after school and weekends. I mainly work with children 4 to 8 years old learn to read using the Jolly Phonics programme, however, I'm also able to provide support to English as a Second Language learners and children who would like to practise their reading skills with a Native English speaker i.e. Australian/British.

Each Session lasts for approximately 45 minutes. This includes preparation of the session, the online reading session (30 minutes), and also written feedback and extra materials sent via email to continue to practise at home.

I use zoom for my online sessions so you will need to be familiar with this service. I also prefer parents to stay nearby in case of technical problems, and if possible I would like children to have access to a mini whiteboard, whiteboard markers and eraser for each session.

My name is Ségolène (26 years old). I have a double degree from KULeuven with a Master of Business Administration (NL/EN) as well as the agrégation (Educatieve Master). I worked for 2 years in insurance and currently work at Odoo.

My mother tongue is French, but from a very young age, I was educated in Dutch, which allowed me to become perfectly bilingual. I love supporting my students and seeing them progress. MY EXPERIENCE :

I helped several students to pass the CE1D exam in Dutch (written, oral, listening comprehension). In addition, I also assisted students with their homework and for various subjects at secondary level (Maths, Handel (commerce), Sciences: WO, NW...).
Finally, it is also possible for younger children to learn Dutch in a fun way (language games, educational games).

Python is easier to learn and understand than other programming languages. Its instructions are simple and easily readable with a clean syntax which doesn't really involve complex coding. However simple and easy to learn, Python can be used to create the highly interactive programs.

This course aims to engage learners with little or even no previous programming experience. The programme for beginners starts with an introduction to the basic fundamentals of Python (expressions, conditionals, and functions). Then, as the course progresses, learners will be able to combine Python commands and modules like Pygame, Matplotlib, Numpy and Tkinter to implement their ideas and develop skills like computational thinking, creativity and problem solving.

The content and pace of the course is adapted to the age and needs of the learners.
