Hello, my name is Irene and I offer English courses online to students of all ages and levels. I have been an English teacher for 18 years. I am originally from Greece, but I have completed all my studies in English (BA in English Language, Literature and Education, MA in Critical and Cultural Theory, and Ph.D. in Visual Culture) and my English skills are native-like. I also speak very good French and Greek (native).

My courses focus on the development of oral and written skills. We work on a variety of exercises, tailored for the needs and purposes of each student and I offer feedback and correction of errors, either in your spoken production or in your written assignments. I also use a wide range of texts, audio and video from original sources (literature, newspaper articles, dialogues, social media texts, documentaries, Youtube etc.), in order to make the lesson more fun and interesting, and provoke discussion and critical thinking. We work on all the skills, with an emphasis on speaking and pronunciation, so that communication in the language is enhanced.

For children, I use a combination of fun activities (e.g. stories, songs, crafts, miming, games, etc.) and from the age of 8 and above, I introduce grammar and vocabulary, first in spoken and then in written form.

To the uninitiated, a grammar book seems to be written in another language because the meaning of the words is incomprehensible. In a down-to-earth way, I'll translate the grammar into familiar words. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning while having a positive mindset.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next.
