About Me

Hello! My name is Marquita. I was born and raised in Jamaica where English is an official language. I am a trained teacher and I've been teaching for over ten years (10 yrs). I attended the Sam Sharpe Teachers' College where I was certified in Primary Education and Special Education. I later went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 20018. Sine then I migrated to Anguilla where I taught English Language, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies at the Omololu International School for four years. Throughout my teaching career I've taught English to several students who were not native English speakers and it was fun, exciting and rewarding. As a result of those experiences I grew more interested in teaching English to beginners as it's inspiring to pass on my native language. My teaching styles are very dynamic. I strive to make my classes fun, creative and interesting. I ensure my students are always comfortable and relaxed so we do a lot of fun and engaging activities. I specialize in vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and helping students to improve their listening and speaking skills. I speak two languages: English and Jamaican Creole, which are native to my country of origin, but I am also learning Spanish so I know how it is to learn a new language. I genuinely enjoy teaching and to see my students improve on or succeed at certain skills is extremely rewarding especially if you are the person behind it. There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:
