English Language Training, Coaching and Facilitation
From 12 £ /h
I offer English Language Training to Speakers of another language (or TEFL is Training English as a Foreign Language). Thus, it is the teaching of English to non-native speakers where English is not the primary language. It involves helping learners develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and communication skills through online instruction. I offer tuition to learners from teenagers to adults at all proficiency levels, supporting academic, professional and everyday communication goals.

About Me
Hello! I'm Peter from Cape Town, South Africa, and I help teenagers, adult learners, professionals, managers, and leaders develop the confidence and communication skills they need to speak English naturally and effectively.
With over 38 years of experience in adult education, coaching, facilitation, counselling, and leadership development, I understand that learning a language is about much more than vocabulary and grammar. It is about gaining the confidence to express yourself clearly, communicate authentically, and build meaningful connections in both professional and everyday life.
My background is unique. I hold a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree with majors in Psychology and Social Work, together with a professional TEFL certification. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively in corporate learning and development, leadership training, coaching, counselling, and personal development, helping an extensive number of adults grow in confidence, improve their communication, and achieve their personal and professional goals.
This combination of behavioural science, adult learning, and language instruction allows me to create lessons that are practical, supportive, and highly personalised. Every learner arrives with different goals, experiences, strengths, and challenges, so I begin by working collaboratively with each student to identify clear learning outcomes and create a learning pathway that fits their individual needs. Whether your goal is conversational fluency, business English, interview preparation, presentation skills, pronunciation, or simply feeling more comfortable speaking English, every lesson is designed with your objectives in mind.
I believe that adults learn best when they feel relaxed, respected, encouraged, and understood. Many learners already know more English than they realise but hesitate to speak because of fear, self-consciousness, perfectionism, or previous negative learning experiences. My teaching philosophy focuses on creating a safe, encouraging environment where mistakes become opportunities for growth and confidence develops naturally through meaningful conversation and guided practice.
Drawing on decades of experience in psychology, coaching, and adult development, I understand the emotional and psychological aspects of language learning. My lessons, therefore, go beyond teaching grammar and vocabulary. They also help learners overcome communication barriers, reduce speaking anxiety, build self-confidence, and develop the habits that lead to lasting improvement.
Students often describe me as patient, approachable, encouraging, and easy to talk to. I enjoy building genuine relationships with people from different cultures and backgrounds and believe that learning should be engaging, enjoyable, and relevant to everyday life.
Whether you are preparing for work, study, travel, international business, or simply want to speak English with greater confidence, I will work alongside you to help you communicate more naturally, clearly, and confidently.
I look forward to helping you discover your voice in English and supporting you every step of your learning journey.
