I am an experienced and qualified educator with a profound understanding of early childhood development.
Passionate about nurturing young minds, I have been a qualified primary school teacher for over 7 years. I am able to tutor in all subjects primary age 5-11. I have taught across all primary school ages but more specifically I have spent a number of years teaching KS1. I specialise in tutoring phonics and early reading having has specialised training in Systematic Synthetic Phonics providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children to develop a love for reading and language. I have a vast knowledge of phonics and have access to a scheme of work that has been effective in supporting my students to pass their phonics screening at at 98%. I have completed phonics screenings for KS1 and understand the exam structure and requirements. I also have experience teaching children who have additional needs and also those who have English as an additional language.
I aim to guide students through the exploration of letter-sound relationships, blending, and decoding strategies, enabling them to read and spell words with confidence. Students will be introduced to frequently used sight words to enhance their reading fluency and comprehension. Through engaging activities and discussions, learners will develop essential comprehension skills, understanding the meaning behind the text they read encouraging a diverse and expansive vocabulary, promoting effective communication and expression. I aim to foster a positive reading environment, igniting a passion for books and stories through interactive activities, games, and hands-on materials to make learning enjoyable and effective.
This class is also suitable for and adults who have English as an additional language and would like to develop their phonetic pronunciation.
