I am a fully qualified primary school teacher based in Falkirk with over 15 years of experience particularly in the upper primary level. If your child needs additional input in English or Maths to help them reinforce their classroom learning or if they are looking to extend themselves to work at Third Level in preparation for High School or Entrance Exams, then I am here to help. After our initial ‘get to know you’ session, I will build a program of learning that will support your child in all identified areas, helping them to feel more confident with concepts or skills they have found tricky to master as well as challenge them to reach their full potential moving towards higher level learning. My goal is to create supportive and engaging session where students feel motivated to explore, make mistakes in a safe environment and ultimately, experience success, helping to boost their confidence in any classroom or examination setting. Mathematics is often seen as a problem area for many students and their ‘tricky’ subject. With every student that identifies this as an area for development, my focus is on building a strong foundation in maths reinforcing key concepts, using key problem-solving strategies as well as developing critical thinking skills. Through the use of real-world, tangible examples, I will help students develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and how they can be applied in their own lives. This work will be followed up with targeted areas for further practice, consolidation and/or additional challenge. During my writing sessions, I will guide students in developing their practical writing skills, i.e. grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and organisation of points/plot. Whilst encouraging creativity throughout, I will ensure there are multiple opportunities for students to express themselves through various writing genres. We will also work on editing and reviewing with feedback sessions built in to help consolidate the techniques introduced. I strongly believe that reading is the key to unlocking a whole world of knowledge and imagination. In my reading sessions, I will focus on developing essential skills such as phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocab. Through a variety of activities, including reading aloud, guided reading, discussion and analysis, I will help students improve their reading abilities, expand their literary horizons, and hopefully, foster a lifelong love for books. I look forward to working with you.

My Psychology degree and 9 years of experience working with children with Neuro-divergence and additional educational needs prior to teaching have significantly shaped my approach to teaching. I prioritise relationship building and trust with students and their caregivers. I am patient, kind, and incredibly encouraging but have high expectations. I work with students for them to also gain high expectations in themselves. This may happen in the first few sessions or may take a longer period of time depending on the student. I help students gain high expectations for themselves by initially giving tasks where they are guaranteed success, then celebrating and reflecting on this success and how they were able to use the skills taught and their effort to complete the task. This builds a persons confidence and significantly increases the likelihood of attempting more difficult tasks. This is heavily proven by research (and seen in my classroom daily) known as the “theory of self efficacy” and the “theory of planned behaviour”. If a person does not believe a task is within their capability, they are incredibly unlikely to even attempt it (No matter how much we believe they can do it). It is my job to SHOW students they can do it by designing tasks and lessons in a way that they feel challenged finish with pride in their achievements. When teaching new skills I will show them first, then we will complete a task together, then they will apply the skills independently. I will be constantly assessing as they work independently and provide support where necessary. The ultimate goal is to phase back my support until they are using the taught skills correctly, consistently, confidently and independently. Lessons will vary depending on students needs. If caregivers want to spend a percentage of the lesson to discuss, that will be agreed upon. If there are specific targets you want me to cover then we can dedicate time for you to tell me these expectations. If you would prefer me to assess your student and gage where the gaps are and plan accordingly, that is also ok. I would suggest an initial session to meet, and discuss goals. Some classes you may benefit from: -SATs Prep -Phonics -Reading (comprehension, vocabulary, inferencing, predictions, explaining, retrieval, sequencing, summarising, making links, authors intent) -Spelling -Grammar (or Spelling and grammar combined) -Maths -Maths (arithmetic) -Maths (Reasoning and Problem solving) -Target specific - has your teacher said there are targets you need to work on in various subjects? -Science -History -Geography -Psychology (GCSE, A Level) Is your child in secondary school but needs support in the foundation subjects such as reading, writing or maths? Reading and writing is an essential skills in secondary school for every subject. I can support your child to close the gap so they can access all subjects with their peers. Having worked in secondary schools before, I have seen how much students are required to read and write in all lessons, but there will not be opportunities to learn these fundamental skills at school. I welcome students of all ages (including adults) from all backgrounds and of all abilities. I look forward to meeting you soon and celebrating the amazing progress ahead!

Trusted teacher: I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started to teach Turkish when I was studying the Turkish Language and Literature at the university. I worked in a language school and at the universities, and I suppose that I gained success. 😊 My achievements are directly proportional to my students’ success. My students are mostly teachers, consulate officers, international business people, and also travellers. I feel rewarded when I witness their progress in applying their Turkish language skills to their daily lives. Over the years, I have met hundreds of people from all over the world, taught Turkish, and told them about Istanbul and Turkey. Those people told me about their countries and learned to express themselves in Turkish. For example, I ask them: “Do you like Istanbul?” in Turkish it is “İstanbul’u surveyor museum?” or “ Traffic is very bad in Istanbul!”, “İstanbul’ da çok Trafik var!” A basic but correct conversation is really important for self-confidence in any language. If a learner can master basic sentence forms, the rest will come much easier. On the other hand, making mistakes is also very important. Especially, a learner can not speak without making a mistake the first and second time. My students are always varied and have diverse learning skills. My professionalism also allows me to tailor language education according to individual interests, needs, and capacities. In the classroom, I hold firm three main principles: first, providing a comfortable environment, second, creating an encouraging atmosphere, and third, establishing a collaborative instruction model. I consider that I developed an aptitude for making learning Turkish to become much easier, more enjoyable, and more practical for my students. I use a book prepared by a university in Turkey. I share the pdf version of the book for my lessons. I also adapt the materials according to the learner’s needs and support the book with my authentic materials. Even though I use a communicative approach, all my lessons are guided by a solid knowledge of grammar. I use Google Docs which includes a vocabulary list, sentences (corrected and uncorrected versions, you can compare both of them easily), grammar points and homework for revision. In this way, you can find everything in Google Docs well organized. How learning a new language opens a new window into a person, teaching Turkish is also the same for me! I was always interested in languages - I could speak a bit of Italian and learned Persian grammar except English. I always think about Istanbul -I was born and grew up here- it is a good place for self-improvement. First and foremost, Istanbul hosts international people coming from around the world. It is considering to me, I am lucky because I have one of the most pleasant professions. Promoting cross-cultural awareness is an important part of my lessons when teaching Turkish. Teaching the language involves the students and myself in a dynamic conversation about our cultural backgrounds. Teaching Turkish is in fact not only teaching a language but also teaching a culture. I am interested in cinema, and music and like visiting museums. I have published various movie and book review articles. If you want to speak Turkish well, please get in touch with me. It is fun, and we will smile during the lesson!

Trusted teacher: Hi All, thank you for checking out my course. This class is open to students of all levels. Whether you are only starting to learn the wild-looking letters of the Cyrillic alphabet, or whether you are looking to practise your written and spoken Russian, I would be delighted to accompany you at any stage of your Russian-learning journey. For more advanced students, I would be happy to help you get to know one of the most defining aspects of the Russian language, namely its novels and poetry, which would be a great way to learn about the 'mysterious' Russian soul. I believe that studying in three different countries have allowed me to try out and assess various approaches to education in general and teaching languages in particular - from the rigourous Russian system based on ensuring that the students will obtain exceptional spelling, grammar, syntax and punctuation skills, to the more relaxed yet more critical and analytical Western approach, focused on problem-solving and independent work. You will get the benefit of a vast bank of techniques, methods and learning materials that I have developed and accumulated over the past year will be used in class to pique and maintain your interest. And since I was once a language student too, I would be able to share my personal tips and tricks with you to help you reach whatever goal you have set for yourself - be it being able to wow your friends and family by reciting a poem in the language of Dostoyevski, or impressing your future collegues with the thorough knowledge of Russian current affairs in their mother tongue!

Online or In-Person Turkish Lessons for Adults and Kids from an Experienced and Patient Teacher For All Levels-Learn&Practice&Speak! (Maltepe)
Başak
I am following a class with Başak to learn turkish. The lessons are held in english. This course covers pronunciation, grammar and free speaking which are also adapted to daily life situations as well as speaking about yourself. I have experienced a very well organized and structured teacher on a professional basis. The teacher gives clear instructions, pays attention to the pronunciation and corrects you when needed, which is crucial for the turkish pronunciation. The course fees contain the tuition as booked and course material as the class is accompanied by a book (workbook and exercise book) and audio files. The books are sent to you in advance, makes it very convenient to take a print out or as a digital version on your tablet/PC/phone. Between the lessons homework will be assigned and checked by her via mail and discussed in the next lesson. So far, I am very happy with the lessons and I am also confident that I will improve my turkish steadily in the future with her. Thanks

Private violin lessons, Music Theory, Technical and Musical Skills (Paris)
Ester
My private violin lesson with Ester was absolutely perfect. I had a privilege to hear Ester play her violin and she is so good- it is crazy to think I was able to learn from her. She is also such a good teacher. Full of knowlege and patience- which is, in my opinion, a rare combination. I had no prior musical education and this was my first real music lesson. Ester managed to teach me basic note reading, correct violin holding and even playing my first tunes. Her explainations are very clear and easy to understand. And her approach is very friendly. She is also a very nice person and easy to talk to. I wish we lived in the same city so I could keep studying playing violin with Ester- that's how good she is. Lidia

Dutch lessons at any level.
Irma
Irma is a great teacher. Everything is well organized in each session. We have fun during the class, so learning dutch with her is not boring. She pays extra attention to the pronunciation and corrects me when I'm wrong. This is very helpful to learn the pronunciation correctly from the beginning since changing it later needs much more effort. Irma is also very flexible with timing and content of the course. I am completely happy with my private classes.
