This reading class will enable the pupil to become a confident and knowledgeable reader. Their fluency in reading with be supported, if these needs to be at the beginning levels of Phonics or the encouragement of reading for meaning and with expression. During their fluency development their comprehension skills will be developed and challenged. This will focus on their structuring of answers, which would include answers linked to retrieval, inference, summarising and prediction.

The reading involved will be a mixture of fiction and non-fiction texts to enable variety and allow for the full range of skills to be practiced and developed.

I am an experienced and skilled teacher/ tutor. I have been teaching for twelve years with children from 3 - 14 years. I am able to provide an engaging, fun and challenging learning environment, which provides support where required. I tailor my sessions to the individual needs of each pupil, focusing on their gaps in learning, any misconceptions they have but with constant challenge. I am a very experienced and skilled teacher of mathematics. I focus on the main areas of maths and ensure fluency in these areas. Having maths fluency is essential to developing mathematical skills. The basic skills in maths need to be embedded before there is the application during everyday life or the development of reasoning skills. This class focuses on fluency of the basic skills, bridging any gaps within learning for this to happen and also provide challenge. I ensure all lessons are engaging and are tailored to the needs of the individual.

English writing - developing description and detail

Developing different writing techniques can be exciting and fun. Learning the basics of sentence structure to adding lots of description and detail. It enables the learning to be imaginative and create visualisations through their writing.

During these sessions the basics of SPAG will be taught, many different writing techniques and how to add detail for effect.

I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities. I have been teaching Turkish professionally for more than 16 years. I also taught Turkish for 5 years when I was a university student. In 2018, I obtained a TESOL certificate and also began teaching English.

I teach both adults and children. Creating a comfortable learning environment for my students is one of my top priorities. If you would like to learn Turkish or English in a consistent and structured way, I would be happy to work with you.

I hold firmly to two main principles: creating a comfortable space for learning and building an encouraging atmosphere.

Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid understanding of grammar, as Turkish has a very different structure.

I use the course book set prepared by Istanbul University. It follows a strategic approach to learning Turkish and includes all language skills—reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking—from A1 to C2. All of these skills are essential for conversation.

I teach English for the A1 and A2 levels.

The workbook offers many exercises for homework or revision, and I support the book with my own authentic materials. I also use an interactive board that you can view anytime, and you can edit it as well. Repetition-based speaking practice plays an important role in my lessons.

I speak English well, and a bit of Italian, and I have also studied Persian and German grammar. I am interested in literature.
