This class is for anyone interested starting learning or gaining new insights to playing the violin. Depending on the student's final goal we adjust the repertoire and skills that are needed for obtaining the goal.

As a musician I am inspired by many styles of playing, with classical music and Scandinavian folk being my main focus.
My goal as a teacher is to keep and increase the students love for music as well as offer necessary and appropriate skills to keep the student challenged.

About Me

Hi, I’m Saimi - a Finnish-Estonian violinist, multi-instrumentalist and professional freelance musician based in Oslo.

I hold a Master’s degree from the Norwegian Academy of Music, where I studied classical violin alongside Norwegian folk music and Hardanger fiddle. I have performed internationally as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, including many years with the Baltic Sea Philharmonic on stages such as the Berlin Philharmonie and Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.

Alongside classical music, I have a particular love for Nordic and Baltic folk traditions, improvisation and exploring different ways of making music.

I offer lessons in:

- Classical violin
- Folk violin - especially Nordic and Baltic traditions
- Hardanger fiddle
- Folk singing

Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to an instrument after many years, or an experienced musician wanting to explore something new, I’m happy to adapt the lessons to your interests and goals.

I am a freelance musician, performing with several orchestras across Europe.
I have recently finished my Masters Studies in KASK Conservatorium, Belgium and am currently living in Oslo.
Passion for music was the main vehicle that brought me to where I am now. But a big part of the origin of that passion came from the teachers I had contact with.

Music is a language and we use it to communicate composers' message through our interpretation. Our favorite musicians seem to be able to do this with such ease, but perhaps it is not always easy and fun for us. This is where I come in! I would like to show you many more ways to enjoy, to love, to be swept away by the music, and ultimately making violin playing easy. Whether you need a main teacher or just an extra help with your practice or preparation for concerts/auditions, I'm happy to assist!

A bit about me: I was born in Thailand, but spent most of my musical life in the USA. I'm primarily a performer (founding member of Zorá Quartet), but love teaching. I have had the fortune of working and performing with many world class musicians and I'm eager to share what I've learned with you!

I offer piano and music theory lessons for students of all ages and skill levels. My lessons are designed not only to refine technique but also to bring out each student’s creativity and deepen their connection to music.
Many of my students have achieved highest results on ABRSM exams (distinctions), and won scholarships and awards in competitions. With over 12 years of teaching experience and a strong background in classical piano performance, I provide a tailored approach that meets students whichever level they are—whether they are just starting out or already at an advanced level!

The lessons take place in central Oslo, just a 5-minute walk from Oslo Central Station, on a beautiful Essex grand piano made by Steinway & Sons, which provides an inspiring sound and playing experience.
There is an optional student concert every year for those who wish to showcase their progress.

Private cello lessons for anyone interested in learning cello from the start or developing further and gaining new motivation. I focus on developing solid technique in a natural and healthy way, combined with musicality and enjoyment. Lessons may include note reading and playing together, but also playing by ear and improvisation for those interested. Repertoire is always tailored to the student’s goals, from classical and folk to jazz and popular music.

My goal as a teacher is to nurture and deepen each student’s love for music, while providing the skills and guidance needed to keep them motivated and challenged.

I can offer lessons in piano and music theory, or a combination of both. In recent years, I have developed my own pedagogical approach to music theory that focuses on play, improvisation and hearing. Concepts are explained through specific music examples, where we build understanding gradually adapted to the student's level. I include simple exercises in improvisation where we play together.

In piano lessons, the focus is on practice technique so that the student can learn effectively on his own. Teaching is tailored to the student's interests and level, and many different ways of working can be explored. For example, there may be a focus on note-based music, chord-based music or improvisation, or a combination of these.

The most important thing is that we follow the students interests whatever they may be, this is to ensure that learning and motivation is not dependent on the teacher. The goal should be that you develop independence to drive your own development.

Jeg tilbyr undervisning i piano og komposisjon, der pedagogikken baserer seg på elevens egne interesser interesser, med læring gjennom lek og utforsking.

Jeg opplever at mange ønsker å kunne spille den musikken de er interessert i på en selvstendig måte, og for å oppnå dette jobber vi gjerne med å forstå sammenhengen mellom akkorder og skala. Viktige konsept gjennom spesifikke musikkeksempler, der vi gradvis utvider kompleksiteten. Pleier også å inkludere enkle improvisasjonsøvelser, da dette både styrker lytting, teoriforståelse og musikkglede. Det er gøy å spille sammen!

Jeg jobber også med notebasert musikk for de som ønsker det, da med fokus på innøvingsteknikk, utrykk og notelesing. Har selv jobbet mye med noter og har hatt mye glede av det.

Uansett er målet at eleven får verktøy til å øve selvstendig, og at musikkgleden alltid er tilstede. Det er alt for mange som slutter å spille den dagen de ikke har lærer lenger. Målet mitt er at dette ikke skjer, og at eleven blir trygg nok til å drive sin egen utvikling over tid.
