Learn the art of Pipe Band Snare Drumming with 1-1 tuition!
From 11 £ /h
Ulster-Scot Pipe Band Snare Drumming is an art all of its own! With high technical ability required with ultimate hand-control but a ability that sets no limits, I can help you achieve this!
This class is for beginner/learner drummers who are either interested in learning a new style of drumming or aspiring to go further and higher! The focus in this tuition is to learn to play drum scores which begin at amateur level to advanced and high-level performance. The class will begin by teaching and demonstrating the 'traditional grip' of the sticks on both hands, then the explanation and theory of basic notes, rudiments and generic mass band scores to get started!
You'll learn a variety of rudiments which are specifically designed to help improve your hand-control and speed which take you from a beginner to an advanced drummer in little time!
If you are an absolute beginner, don't worry, I am currently teaching a young boy of 8 years old which only a couple of months ago couldn't hold the sticks but now can play 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8 march drum scores!

About Me
I adopt the kind but firm approach to teaching snare drumming. I believe that a lot can be reaped from a student when sowed with care. As I have went through this before myself, I understand how difficult it can be for those starting out drumming so I hold patience in all that I do.
I like to sit down with my student and play on the same drum pad and thus giving him/her the confidence that there is nothing to fear. I demonstrate each and every rudiment and have notes written down for the student on each and every technique and movement that we go through - this also ensures that the student won't forget anything from one lesson to the next as well as guidance for when they are playing at home in their own practice sessions.

Experience / Qualifications
I have learnt with some of the best snare drumming tutors in the country from various backgrounds and bands. I have also had the diverse experience with working with bands in various grades in different areas so I understand how each of them work in their own way and I can advise on solo competitions when the students' ability reaches a advanced stage of progress.
