Experience / Qualifications

Born at the end of the 1970s in the Liège region, he is currently based in Brussels. He carries out his musical activities as a pianist within various projects, alongside his activities as a composer and arranger. He plays regularly throughout Belgium and outside.

His numerous activities in musical fields as diverse as jazz, soul music, classical music, French song, cabaret, or even theater and cinema music, gradually make him an eclectic musician whose musical language is imbued with all these influences.

He was trained on classical piano by Piet Kuijken and George Van Dam, and studied jazz with Nathalie Loriers and Eric Legnini. He graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in jazz piano with great distinction. He also holds a director's diploma (Insas).

As a composer, Yannick writes music for his own projects (jazz, cabaret, songs, orchestra, string quartet), and is regularly called upon to compose or make arrangements for other projects (among others: arrangement for orchestra and backing vocals from ABBA, Venusberg / pop cabaret, Julie Chemin album / French song, Remua / orchestra / children's choir, Cookies Films / RTBF, film scores, Alexi Van Stratum / theater music.)

In 2013, he won the prize for Best Film Music for the short film "Premier Pas" by Grégory Lecocq (Naousson International Film Festival, Greece, 250 films in competition, 50 countries represented.)

In 2014, with his jazz quintet 'Gorgona', he released a first album called "Stories & Pictures", where he unleashes his inspiration and performs his instrumental compositions.

Yannick is also involved in musical community life. Thus he is artistic director of "Ars Nova", member of "Lundis d'Hortense", the Belgian association of jazz musicians, member of the 'Facir' (Federation of unified authors, composers and performers), and member of the "Belgian Screen Composers Guild ".

Finally, at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, he teaches writing in classical music, as well as specialized didactics for jazz piano and general jazz training in the pedagogy department. At the Academy of Arts of the City of Brussels, he teaches piano and jazz harmony.

One-to-one music lessons inspired by the teachings of Suzuki, Havas, Hoppenot, and Galway.

The lessons are adjusted according to age, level, and interests. The most important is that the student will learn in an enjoyable way for them.

Beginners:

Intermediate:
We can get to improve the technique of the instrument, reading skills, get more precision, speed, sound and timing and musical expression. Advanced:

In my opinion, the student is the main actor in his learning, and the teacher should be his caring guide.
