I teach piano to children and young people in a fun and friendly way. With many years of experience in international teaching and a Master’s degree in Music Theory and Pedagogy, I help students enjoy music while learning.

Lessons focus on playing skills, musical expression and musicality, bit of a theory and gaining confidence in performing. Whether your child is just starting out or wants to improve their skills, learning piano with me is fun, easy and inspiring!

About Me

I am an experienced piano teacher with many years of teaching in international settings. I hold a Master’s degree in Music Theory and Pedagogy and enjoy helping children and young people discover and develop their musical skills. My lessons focus on technique, musical expression, and building confidence, all in a fun and supportive environment.

Education

Master’s degree in Music Theory from the University of Arts in Belgrade, Faculty of Music; participated in a student exchange program at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius, Lithuania; recipient of several scholarships and awards, including recognition for the best Master’s thesis in the Department of Music Theory.

Master of Music in performance from New England Conservatory. I specialize in tutoring Flute and Piano to students of all ages. I also excel in helping students prepare for the ABRSM exams. Recitals and performances are arranged on a regular basis to offer students an opportunity to showcase their achievement.

I have studied English Literature and Music, and have played the piano for 14 years. I previously taught pupils to prepare for the ABRSM piano examinations, and have a 100% pass rate.
Playing the piano is an expressive and engaging skill to learn. More than anything, the pupil learning should enjoy them self, and find a sense of fulfilment from playing. Music in all its forms has always been a passion that I carry inside me since I was a child. I graduated in piano performance with highest honors in 2009 in Russia and my studies also includes the courses of music theory, harmony, music history, choir and chamber music. I also did my masters and the Artist Diploma at Royal College of Music in London,under the guidance of Professor Norma Fisher.
I attended masterclasses with internationally recognized teachers and soloists like Sergei Babayan, Bella Davidovich, Nikolay Petrov, John Lill among others.
Beside classical music studies, I have always cultivated interests in different music styles like pop, blues and jazz and I attended many courses.
I love teaching because solving problems of other students helps me to improve myself.
I also enjoy to give my experience and my knowledge encouraging students to be curios to music of various styles.
I can prepare for ABRSM and TRINITY exams at any level.
I practice different sports including swimming and boxing and I'm interested in different disciplines such as core energetics, meditation, Alexander technique and NLP that helps me to study deeply the techniques for a better performance in public and manage the energy of my body.

I have been playing piano for the past 9 years, and I am able to give lessons from the very beginning as well as on an intermediate level. During the classes, we are going to be learning various amounts of songs, practicing chord progressions and learning how to harmonize.

Xirui has about 10 years of experience teaching piano/voice and music theory lessons. She is very good at working with different levels of students, from beginners to advanced students. She is bilingual and she just earned her Doctoral Degree major in Music at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
She graduated from the California State University Northridge with a degree of Master of Music with the major of vocal performance. Xirui earned her bachelor's degree with the major of Music Education at the Shanghai Normal University.
She has performed in various opera productions including Dialogues des Carmélites, Don Giovanni, No guarantee, Hansel and Gretel, L’incoronazione di Poppea and Cosi fan Tutte. She has also performed in the chorus in various productions as Mass in B minor, Messiah, Petite Messe solennelle, and many of these. She was also in Master Classes with Dr. Rachel Joselson, Angela Meade, and the famous conductor, Gregory Buchalter.
She was a Graduate Assistant at the UNLV vocal department. Her duties are teaching private voice lessons to undergrad students, teaching non-major vocal pedagogy, and organizing vocal department affairs. She is experienced with taking care of students' voices and she studied a series of courses about "release your voice", which aims at rediscovering ones' voices and curing vocal disorders.
Apart from her teaching and performance career, she also has rich experience in running summer music camps and music festivals for elementary, middle, and high school students. She also works as a coordinator, chorus director, voice faculty, and as a music theory teacher.
