I've been living in Stockholm for three years, working at one of the best English speaking schools in the city as the Head of English. I understand the Swedish education system very well and would be happy to help either Grade 6 or Grade 9 preparations for Nationella Prov. I also have experience working with English curriculum or the Cambridge curriculum.
I would also be happy to help tutor adults who need some help practicing their spoken, written or read English.
I believe when you tutor, you have be relaxed, make the lessons engaging and fun, and really make the student understand how much help some one on one time with a tutor can be. I like to use modern teaching techniques, make the lessons as active and engaging as possible and really make the time valuable and well spent for all.
I have tutored in England, and am happy to be as flexible as you need me - either travelling to you, or hosting lessons at my apartment.

About Me
Hello!
Welcome!
Thanks for checking out my page. My name is James, I am originally from the North West of England, a small Roman city called Chester. I’ve been living in Stockholm for three years now, and I have been consistently impressed with Stockholm, the Swedish people and Sweden in general.
For me- learning English is all about communicating well. I like to do this in as many different active ways as possible. Whether it is silly speaking games, using things you are interested in, new medias like YouTube, TikTok, reading some classic literature - I like to adapt my lessons to suit you. Whether it’s improving your reading, writing, speaking, or just preparing for National Tests, I want to make these lessons work for you. If you are having classes outside of school - they should be interesting and personal not boring and photocopied worksheets. They should be engaging and fun and make you want to learn! That is why I try to offer. In terms of what I’d like from you as as student? Very simple! Just someone who wants to learn English, and is willing to be honest with me if you’re finding something tricky or boring.
I studied English Literature at a top 10 Red Brick University in England, then completed a Masters in English Literature before going back to University to become a teacher. I completed my qualifications, worked at a school in England for one year then moved to Stockholm (blame Brexit and Boris!) I have worked as the Head of English at one of Stockholm’s best International English Schools for two and a half of these years.
I love connecting with young people and getting to know them, and to help them develop their love for language. As a specialism, I work best with bilingual learners- and I like to use a variety of tried and tested methods to improve speaking in English. In my spare time, I read and write all the time, and I love trying to instil the same love of reading in my students.
As I explained above, I am a firm believer that if you tutor in a student’s spare time, the lessons should be valuable. All I can promise with me is - no boring, worksheet lessons which clearly are not personalised. I will discuss what you need from me, and try and make the lessons as active, fun, valuable as possible.
I can work developing English from Grades 4-9.
National test preparation in Grade 6-9.
Support in Gymnasium for essay writing skills in English.
Adult language learners.
If you have any questions - please mail me! I will be happy to answer any questions you might have!
