The literature course is meant to provide young and adult learners with essential information on the major literary trends that spawned the British and American canons. These canons have always been in dialogue with continental philosophy and literature. Hence, while the selected authors are either British or American, the course will occasionally tackle European trends as well and other global influences exerted on British and American literary movements like Latin American Literature for instance. Students will be introduced to a broad range of texts. The historical and cultural contexts of each movement will be explored and will flesh out the traditions and watersheds of British and American literary history.
