So we'll start by establishing an objective of the student's choice that reflects their ambitions, and then work through the appropriate techniques, exercises, and repertoire that allows us to get there in as enjoyable a way as possible!

Lessons will be supplemented with listening/aural exercises, music theory training, and performance/contextual discussions (if necessary!).

About Me

Having recently been contracted to perform piano on a cruise ship before covid-19, I am now offering piano tuition for all ages and abilities in London! Whether you are just starting out or have experience, these lessons will be tailored to your needs and allow you to achieve your goals, whilst remaining flexible and hands-on.

I am a classically trained experienced musician with a strong background in orchestral performance, I started studying music since I was 5 years old. I have been teaching flute, saxophone, clarinet, piano, music theory and folk woodwinds for more than 15 years. These classes are designed to help students currently studying for their A-Level music examinations. I have experience across a number of exam boards, from AQA to Northern Ireland's CCEA. These classes focus on a number of key areas, such as set work analysis, unseen listening analysis, and written essay exam preparation. These classes use a discussion-led approach to learning, ensuring students can improve in their vocal and written understanding of music analysis.

Homework is generally given in the form of extra listening examples to immerse students further in the musical vocabulary of the set works they are required to study depending on their given exam board.

Mariam offers classical piano lessons for ages 5 and above, from beginner to advanced. This piano teacher has a Master of Arts in Performance Practice, a Master of Philosophy in Music, and a wealth of experience both teaching and performing on piano. Mariam has been teaching piano lessons since 2000. Mariam made her Carnegie Hall debut at age 16 as the youngest pianist in Carnegie's history to have performed J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations. She has numerous accomplishments in piano, including recording a critically-noted CD of the Goldberg Variations, appearing live on radio and television, winning prizes at competitions, and receiving international press recognition. Mariam has performed as a recitalist, chamber musician, and soloist with orchestras including the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, and the Boston Pops, in venues ranging from Symphony Hall in Boston, Lincoln Center in New York, the Grand Philharmonic Hall in Saint Petersburg, and the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. I am a professional musician and educator, with international experience as a Violin/Viola/
Chamber Music/Theory teacher, soloist, orchestra leader, chamber musician, and jury

I have graduated in Violin at the Conservatory of Music "G.P. da Palestrina" of Cagliari-
Italy and in Viola at the Conservatory of Music "G. Verdi" of Milan-Italy.
My professional activity led me to work in several orchestras as performer, and in various
music schools as upper- string and chamber music teacher.
I lived and worked in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and since 2012 I made
London my home, where I developed further teaching experience within the British
system.
I have also founded "The Geminiani Project" of which I am
the director and the leader of the Camerata Geminiani, ensemble that has been invited to
perform in England, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden.
At the same time I have established my ensemble, I have also launched the Geminiani
Youth Orchestra (formed by young musicians aged 6 to 17 years old) as I believe in the
importance of giving an opportunity to young players to perform together, and the
amateur ensemble Hampton Chamber Orchestra; we performed with both orchestras at
various venues in London.
Regarding my teaching technique, I believe that each student is different and unique, so
the first thing I try to do is to establish a connection, then I try to understand the major
skills and major difficulties of the student in order to develop a personalised system; I pay
much importance also to the emotional aspect the student is dealing with in order to build
passion and love for music.
I strongly believe that, once achieved a technical skill, the student must have the chance to
play with the teacher and with other students, and feel the excitement of making music

I have experience in preparing students for auditions, competitions, or ABRSM/Trinity

Developing an understanding and knowledge of music theory helps musicians at all levels to perform confidently and interpret the music with ease. In preparing for a music theory exam you grasp the fundamentals of rhythm, harmony and melody which is essential for good musicianship.

If you're taking a Practical or Performance Grade 6, 7 or 8, you must pass Grade 5 or above in Music Theory before you book your exam to make sure that you have the understanding you need to interpret and perform music at these higher grades.

My classes are for the beginner to intermediate level musicians and I will cover everything you need for music theory exams up to Grade 5 theory.

Evie studied music at university in London and has been playing violin and viola for over 20 years. She is interested in a broad range of music, which she hopes to share with students of all ages and abilities in their lessons. As a performer, Evie plays in various settings - folk, jazz, in bands, as well as more typical orchestral and chamber ensembles. Her own musical interest currently lies in folk, baroque music and improvisation.

Hey! My name is Seán, and I am an Irish singer-songwriter based in London with 2 years of teaching experience. I teach a range of disciplines, including piano, guitar, vocals, songwriting, and music theory. Having taught students of all ages and different levels of musicianship, I am pleased to say that I have built long-lasting relationships with many of my students. With an emphasis on creativity and student input; my lessons allow students to discover their own playing style and musical direction.

I strongly believe that people learn best when they enjoy what they’re doing, and I incorporate this into my teaching style. I strongly encourage my students to bring their own ideas and suggestions to the lessons; that way they can learn a piece of music that they really like. With a background in classical music, I underpin my lessons with useful technical exercises that encourage dexterity, time-keeping and fluency. Finally, I encourage all my students to learn at least the fundamentals of music theory and sight reading. Striking a healthy balance between diligent exercises, music theory and fun musical expression, my lessons allow students to explore their musicality on all fronts.

Developing an understanding and knowledge of music theory helps musicians at all levels to perform confidently and interpret the music with ease. In preparing for a music theory exam you grasp the fundamentals of rhythm, harmony and melody which is essential for good musicianship.

If you're taking a Practical or Performance Grade 6, 7 or 8, you must pass Grade 5 or above in Music Theory before you book your exam to make sure that you have the understanding you need to interpret and perform music at these higher grades.

My classes are for the beginner to intermediate level musicians and I will cover everything you need for music theory exams up to Grade 5 theory.

Evie studied music at university in London and has been playing violin and viola for over 20 years. She is interested in a broad range of music, which she hopes to share with students of all ages and abilities in their lessons. As a performer, Evie plays in various settings - folk, jazz, in bands, as well as more typical orchestral and chamber ensembles. Her own musical interest currently lies in folk, baroque music and improvisation.

Evie has been teaching a broad range of students for the last eight years: those who wish to take graded exams, those looking to explore folk and improvisation, expand their repertoire, or brush up on technique. She also currently teaches group violin classes at a primary school in London.

She has found that encouraging a structured and regular practice at home, if possible with the help of a parent or guardian, is the best way to reach goals and feel confident while playing. Most of all, she encourages students to be open-minded, inquisitive, and ready to listen to a variety of music! Evie is always ready to cater specifically to the needs and interests of the student, and to create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. In lessons, she will cover sight-reading, exam preparation, music theory, focused technique, improvisation, standard repertoire, and any music the student may wish to explore on their instrument.
