About Me
Hi everyone. When I was a kid, my dad asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I told him "a music teacher".
Early on I felt the profound impact my teachers had on me, and I KNEW that was what I wanted to do for others. My teachers were excellnt role models who were patient, kind, inviting, and encouraging of my ability - and that's exactly the person you're going to get if you choose to work with me. I love being someone who helps my students shine brighter than they ever did before, I feel it in my bones that this is what I'm meant to do!
The kind of people that choose me as their teacher are ones who tend to need a little more encouragement, who need that one extra person in their corner to give them a pep talk. At the same time, students who choose me often come when they're looking to get over that hump in songwriting, theory, or instrument skill level. These are the ones who are "right there" and are looking to level up.
Depending on your instrument, level, and personal preferences, I tend to use the Suzuki Method for Cello, The Guitar Method sprinkled with a few choice youtube videos for guitar, as well as hands on paper-and-pencil, then hand-on-instrument theory application. Why learn theory if you're not gonna apply it, am I right? However I'm flexible and often ask my students what they're in the mood to learn, and I adapt to their needs.
