Frank Wu (B.Mus, MA) is a Hong Kong based piano teacher with a passion for music education.

A native of Hong Kong, Frank spent formative years honing his craft as a musician in Australia. He is an alumnus of the Australian Institute of Music, where he studied composition under the guidance of renowned Australian composers Eric Chapus and Drew Crawford. As a live performer, he was an active member in the vibrant Sydney music scene, accumulating extensive performing experience both as a pianist and keyboardist.

On returning to his hometown of Hong Kong, Frank chose to focus his passion in music education. To further his professional development as a teacher, he attained his Master's degree in Music from the Hong Kong Baptist University, graduating with highest honors with a focus on piano pedagogy and early childhood music education.

With over seven years of teaching experience, Frank is a seasoned music teacher who has taught students of all ages - from preschool children to senior adults. He adopts a student-centered approach, accounting for each student's unique abilities to create customized lesson content that enable them to realize their musical potential.

Having had over 13 years of experience playing the piano, and Grade 8 ABRSM certificate of qualification, I teach beginner level piano. Something that I also focus on is musicianship which many other piano tutors do not focus on.

Apart from technique and form, lessons will cover musicality and sensitivity to music as an art form.

Compassionate and well-qualified instructor with more than 5 years of overseas musical training, who have experience with pupils from various ages and backgrounds. Born in 1998, Virginia started learning violin at the age of 3, under the tutelage of under Ms Beedarn Chao and Ms Rosa Lam. In 2013, she attained DipABRSM in violin performance and Grade 8 piano one year later. In 2018, Virginia graduated from King’s College London with a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours), under the sponsorship of the “King’s Hong Kong Scholarships” At KCL, she studied violin with tutors from the Royal Academy of Music - Mr. Nicolas Dupont and Ms Georgia Hannant. She also studied composition with Professor Silvina Milstein, Robert Keeley and Dr. Edward Nesbit. Her works have been performed by UK professional musicians and ensembles such as Clare McCaldin and Lontano Ensemble.

Since university, Virginia has been actively teaching primary to form 6 students at King’s St George’s Music Academy (London) and Sevenoaks School, one of the top 5 UK boarding schools. Aiming to branch out in the field of music, Virginia has took up various arts administration and marketing positions in leading ensembles such as the English Music Festival, London City Philharmonic and more since 2016.

I am a music educator. From Hong Kong. I can play piano, violin and cello. I play cello in an orchestra and also a piano accompanist. About the class:
For beginner students, this class aims at teaching the students basic theory and music composition skill. The teacher will teach step by step, from learning music notes to writing down a melody, including adding chords and accompaniments.
For students with basic music foundation, this class will teach rules, regulations, and other issues in music composition. How to combine different instrument to make a harmony? How to make your tone memorable? Learning music is similar with learning a language. Theoretical foundation is important in music practice.

About the price:
Depending on the distance. If the travel time is less than half an hour to the students’ home, the price will be the same as at the teacher’s home.

Instrumental lessons of piano or clarinet, theory is usually alongside unless you would like to do it exclusively on top of your existing instrumental class.
