Piano Lessons For All Levels & Ages | Explore, Learn, Achieve

I teach beginning and advanced aspiring pianists of all ages (3+) with a focus on immersing students in the magical world of music and getting the best possible quality out of them by challenging to achieve more than assumed possible. Music is a soul-enriching experience and developing musical skills can be a great gift for a lifetime.

With solo piano performance degrees from the Royal Academy of Music (London) and the Universität der Künste (Berlin) I am a highly qualified award-winning concert pianist with almost 20 years of teaching experience and a passion for education. My musical learning was also furthered by postgraduate musicological studies at Royal Holloway and serious interests in philosophy, religions, history, civilization, literature, poetry, law, languages as well as many other things. I loved my musical journey which included not only piano but also composition, the violin, recorder, flute, harpsichord and clavichord from childhood onwards. In the last two decades, teaching has been giving meaning to my life and I enjoy helping others to find fulfillment as well as joy in their learning.

My teaching approach is comprehensive, builds up confidence and incorporates a multidisciplinary orientation thanks to which students get promptly enthused over their learning. There is a focus on enhancing musical understanding, developing or improving reading skills, building up technique, expanding repertoire in a healthy way and foundationally preventing or sorting out injuries as well as pain-related problems. Although my teaching style is primarily quality-oriented with regards to skills, I believe that happiness, confidence, results and a sane sense of achievement are important components to balance in holistic education and offer a non-judgemental, patient, kind, equality-oriented, multicultural environment in which learning can thrive.

I encourage students to perform in concerts, festivals, exams and competitions. Many have won prizes in numerous competitions and passed exams with distinctions. Others have improved their technical skills as well as understanding of music, thus opening more doors and finding professional opportunities in the world of music.

About Me

Natalia was born into a family of musicians in Russia and received her first piano lessons from her mother, continuing with Valentina Nikiforova, a student of Olga Kalantarova who was the assistant of Anna Yessipova. At the age of eight she began playing on stage and had a solo performance in the Glinka Chapel in St Petersburg three years later. In 1995 the family emigrated to Germany and Natalia became a pupil of Prof. Conrad Hansen in Hamburg. In 2000 she entered the University of Arts in Berlin to study with Prof. Pascal Devoyon and graduated with a Diplom (BMus) in solo piano performance.

Natalia has lived in London since 2006, where she continued her studies in piano with Piers Lane and Kathryn Stott as well as harpsichord with Virginia Black and clavichord with Terence Charlston on the MMus programme at the Royal Academy of Music. She has taken part in masterclasses with Dang Thai Son, Rainer Becker, Christopher Elton, Felix Gottlieb, Stanislav Pochekin, Oxana Yablonskaya, Sir Peter Maxwell-Davies, Bernard d’Ascoli, Victor Rosenbaum, Kenneth Gilbert, Julian Jacobson and Stephen Savage and has also had lessons with Lilya Silberstein, Hartmut Rohde, Daniel Hoexter, Michael Dussek and Michael Roll.

Natalia has won prizes at several competitions including the Hastings Centenary Festival International Piano Concerto Competition where she won the first and the Sir Philip Ledger Prize in 2007. She has also been the recipient of the Oscar und Vera Ritter Scholarship, the Paul Hindemith Scholarship, the Myra Hess Award and the Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust Award.

Natalia has given soloist and chamber music performances in the Musikhalle in Hamburg, the Summer Festival Sommerfestspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Philharmonie Berlin performing a Mozart Concerto, the Warehouse in London playing with the Manson Ensemble, the Messiaen South Bank Festival 2008 in London and she also appeared in St. John’s Smith Square playing the Schumann Concerto in November 2007. She is constantly expanding her repertoire, exploring contemporary music with interest, working in different chamber music groups and is also pursuing her interest in musicology which lead her to completing another masters in historical musicology at Royal Holloway University of London.

Natalia has been giving piano lessons in London and Berlin since 2003. She has been teaching children and adult pupils and has experience of preparing students for concerts, exams, auditions and piano competitions.

Natalia also pursued a range of other interests such as Baroque music theory, composition, playing the violin, recorder and flute, languages, literature, photography, religions, philosophy, poetry, law and baking.

Violin Lessons Online for children and adults - learn for fun or for exams
I am a violinist and traveling teacher. I have played the violin for many years in several orchestras. The violin rep to me is the most amazing beautiful sounds that have been created. I love to teach students from the very beginning to help them achieve a good technique and musical ear. The first few lessons are so important to understand how the body works with the violin in order to achieve a beautiful tone and musicality later down the line. I also cater for exams with ABRSM and trinity exam boards I have currently moved to London to continue my studies of the violin with Fabienne Fauritte. My teaching style depends on how the student learns and I will adapt to their needs in order to help them achieve their potential.

Learn Piano and Improvisation and practice other languages :)
The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. What I want you to get from your lessons with me, is not only a huge knowledge of theorical stuff or a great technique, I would like to show you my musical world, the imagination and inner exploration that is required to understand and to love music in a whole new level. Once you have found them, it will be very hard to quit playing! The class duration: You can choose! 20 minutes (Great for the youngest : 3 years old) 30 minutes (Ideal for young beginners from 4 years old) 45 minutes (Intermediate+ adult beginners) 1 hour (Intermediate and combined with some Music Theory) I use different methods depending on: 1) The goals of my student 2) The language that we will use on class 3) Age and musical preferences: I start to teach children from 3 years old, we make games and they learn to play through musical stories that I have created throughout my pedagogical career.

PRIVATE Music Lessons: electric bass, improvisation, composition, music theory.
The class I propose as a private teacher cover the following subjects: -Bass Guitar: we will cover elements such as technique (from basic to advanced), groove, timing, soloing, creating catchy basslines in different genres (Jazz, Pop, Rock, Funk, World Music, etc..) -Improvisation: idiomatic (related to music-genre) and non-idiomatic -Composition and Music theory: study of harmony, scales, melody, creative musical-writing. All these subjects are interconnected in the lesson! N.B. IMPROVISATION, COMPOSITION AND MUSIC THEORY ARE OPEN TO ALL INSTRUMENTALISTS!! The first lesson with a new student is always an opportunity for the student to express what he likes about music. During the first lesson I usually propose my favorite music to the new student, and the the student does the same. The first lesson is the first approach in knowing each other, so that I can tailor a study programme that fits perfectly my student. By developing the just-mentioned study programme I guarantee that practice is linked to pleasure, cuoriosity and discover! Regular practice is also ensured by giving the student exciting and challenging assignments, that at the same time are doable. In this way I guarantee both satisfaction and challenge.

Aurel
Drum lessons with qualified and experienced teacher - all styles, all levels
Hello! My name is Aurel and I am a French Amsterdam-based drummer. Although currently specialized in Jazz music, I have studied various esthetics, and Pop and Rock music, in particular, are part of my background (I played in several pop-rock bands). Therefore I am able to teach a broad panel of music styles. I also have many drum methods and charts at my disposal, and have experience in teaching children from the age of 6, as well as teenagers and adults. Lessons and teaching method: I always adapt to the student's tastes and learning profiles. This is why, during the first lesson, and on a regular basis afterwards, I always take time to discuss with my students (or their parents if they are very young) to figure out together the path they want or need to follow. I will use charts and methods for those who need visual support to assimilate the skills or teach by ear and by demonstrating to the ones who feel more comfortable this way. I also play electric guitar and can jam with my students, which is a great tool for developing band playing skills or simply to have a good time. For those eager to make significant progress, I offer consistent and serious monitoring, with practice recommendations. I can for instance prepare a student for an audition or an entrance exam in a conservatory. If you are willing to improve your understanding of rhythm in general, you can also benefit from my knowledge of Indian Karnatic rhythm concepts, one of the most complete traditional approaches to rhythm. Students who simply want to learn at their pace, to have fun and unwind, are definitely welcome too! About me: In addition to my jazz drums bachelor and master degrees from the conservatory of Amsterdam (CvA), which included a thorough pedagogical training and a specialization in Indian Karnatic techniques, I benefit from 4 years of experience as an employed drum teacher in two French associative music schools (Ecole de musique de Nangis and Conservatoire des Deux Rives, Moret-sur-Loing). I am also an active musician, both on the Dutch and the French scene. My trio mainly tours in France and has played at venues such as the Sunside (Paris), or participated in competitions like the Keep An Eye International Jazz Award. I am also the co-leader of the sextet Chai Masters, finalist of several European competitions (Leiden Jazz Award, Golden Jazz Trophy in Lille, France, 7 Virtual Jazz Contest). Recently, the band was part of Keep An Eye The Records's finalists (March 2022). Looking forward to meeting you and passing on my know-how to you!

Sergio
Higher Graduate (with masters) in Cello and Conducting teaches music at all levels
My teaching method is scrupulously adapted to each student I have, regardless of the subject to work on (musical language, cello, music history, analysis, conducting, etc.) I always apply the Belgian teaching model, where I trained with my master's degrees in Conducting (Antwerp) and Historical Cello (Brussels). According to this model, the main thing is a living and practical teaching, taking understanding and not memory as the main learning engine.
