Hello! My name is Karla. I have gained 11 years of experience in teaching English in a range of schools, and most recently, a proven track record of educational leadership as KS3 Coordinator/ KS4 Coordinator, respectively, from 2022-24. I continue to foster a love of literature and I'm excited to support more students with their studies. I attribute my positive relationships with students and their progress to my ability to design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to individual needs. I employ various assessment strategies to track student progress and provide timely feedback, ensuring continuous improvement. In addition, I have been tutoring online since the pandemic and have developed skills using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive. It is my continued goal to make education accessible to all students.

I am a tenacious, fun loving and laid back mathematics teacher among members of staff. When I teach students I display high levels of intellect, a conscientious manner, a good sense of humour and give rewards not only sanctions. I enjoy using a diverse range of methods when I teach such as game based teaching, collaborative lessons, investigative approaches, connectionist teaching and topic based teaching whereby I relate maths to the everyday lives of students‘. In addition, my teaching style encourages student participation and discussion. It is a mixture of facilitative teaching and instructor led lessons. It aims to ensure that each student is stretched to their limits and hence incorporates differentiation. To diversify my teaching, I encourage peer learning whereby students who have understood an idea in maths, teach their understanding of maths to those who are struggling to understand. When it comes to marking work, I get students to mark their own work as well as regularly marking their work myself and giving written feedback. This is my belief about mathematics: “mathematics is the most beautiful subject in education and life: it is artistic, scientific and the language of the sciences. It is discovered, adapted and open to invention. Mathematics is profitable to the person who understands it well. It is a waterfall of knowledge: one never tires of washing themselves with mathematics“ (Timothy, 2018).

English Literature at GCSE level can be difficult. There are a few texts you'll have to remember and analyse along with having to develop strong written answers for exam questions. Alone, this can all seem very overwhelming. However, classes with me could take some of the weight off of your shoulders. I aim to support and guide students through their studies in the most effective way possible. I can help you to achieve your highest potential and work alongside you to unlock your strengths. The Mathematics class is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of mathematical concepts, theories, and applications. This course covers various topics, from fundamental arithmetic and algebra to more advanced topics such as calculus, statistics, and geometry. The objective is to develop students' problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking, preparing them for further studies and real-world applications.

I work one to one with primary, secondary and ESL students. Academic subjects I teach include : 11 + GCSE: English language , English Literature , Science ,Geography and Biology and English At A level .My lessons consist of monitoring, assessing, and re-mediating my student’s performance. I undergo a risk assessment process with my students and implement comprehensive lesson plans that address their strengths and weaknesses. I Identify and select appropriate resources to meet each student’s needs and use integrated worksheets to vary lessons and consolidate concepts. My students all have designated files which I keep in a specific file structure. I run a cv clinic for my mature students as well as assisting them with their job applications and offer interview support. I also provided lessons via Skype when on placement abroad.

I'm a Natural Sciences student at the University of Birmingham looking to tutor science or maths online over the summer. I can tutor any level from KS1 - GCSE for physics, and KS1 - A Level for chemistry, biology, and maths. I aim to give confidence and enjoyment in the subject, working with my student's own interests as well as following a syllabus. I am flexible to work with what you want to achieve.
