For online classes in art, graphic design, fashion, and games design, here is an updated list of topics, starting with fine art: Fine Art: Exploring Contemporary Practices – Teach students about contemporary fine art techniques and concepts, including painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Explore how artists today address themes like identity, politics, and culture, and encourage students to develop their own visual language and creative voice through hands-on projects. Painting Tutor: Discover and develop your artistic languageTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Painting Tutor: Discover and develop your artistic languageTranslate this text using Google Translate.

I am an artist and philosopher from Amsterdam currently living in Antwerp. I studied in London where I acquired a BA from Art Academy London and a BA in philosophy from St Mary's University London. Artistic development starts by identifying your artistic interest. As artists, we don’t always know why we draw and paint the things that we do. Yet they are not random. What captivates us or draws us towards certain artworks? This might be the tonal way in which light reflects, structural forms or mathematical division. The point being, is that we all have such aesthetic interests and step 1 is finding out what interests you! Step 2 is helping you express your interests through painting techniques, styles and materiality. But it all starts with you. What do you want to say? And how? I will help you do this through discussion, looking at your previous work (if you have any), introducing you to a LARGE variety of artists, potentially copying their styles. I adjust my classes according to your needs. The goal is simple: to come to understand your artistic interest, help you find techniques to express them and develop your artistic language. (Please note that just because you have found an artistic interest and a way to express it, it does not mean that you must do only one thing for the rest of your life. It is the downfall of creativity to repeat and paint the same way over and over again. Instead, allow your interests to drive your creativity. Let it be the starting point, venture out and discover it from various angles and ways of expressing it. But also be mindful that as we grow our interests can change and as they change, we must remain honest and respond accordingly such that our artistic language can also grow.) Have questions? Don’t hesitate to message me! I can tailor a class to your needs :)

My children, who were 7 and 9 when they started, have loved learning art with Emer over the past year. She introduced them to different materials, surfaces and techniques, and we saw a real progression in their drawing and painting skills, confidence and creativity throughout the year. Their work became more thoughtful, detailed and ambitious. What makes Emer truly special is her ability to see children not simply as “kids”, but as individual personalities. She takes their ideas seriously, listens to them and shows genuine interest in their lives. The children looked forward to every class and loved sharing their drawings and stories with her. Her knowledge and passion for art, combined with her ability to connect with children, make her an exceptional teacher. She even inspired my son to dream of becoming a cartoon maker. We are incredibly grateful to her and would definitely recommend her.

The experience with Xingying was one of consummate professionalism, acute attention to detail, and warm efficiency of time. I was not only impressed but feel extremely lucky and privileged to continue my son’s lessons with her. - She answered all questions and concerns with ease - She provided a detailed list of all the tools needed for a successful lesson - She provided a good space for learning - My son expressed great enthusiasm and excitement for continued learning with her I most of all appreciate that her presence brought out a commitment in my son to desire his learning. I recommend Xingying’s services with the the utmost confidence and faith.

He is an amazing teacher who has a talent to reading people and situations to bring out the best in them. Would fully recommend to anyone, any age, at any level. He will be sure to challenge and encourage you according to your level, wants and needs. Five stars all the way.
