Business English, Confident Conversation, Interviews and Presentations with an Oxford Law Graduate

Business English, Confident Conversation, Interviews and Presentations with an Oxford Law Graduate

Speak with greater confidence in English—whether you are preparing for an interview, delivering a presentation or taking part in an important business conversation. I offer personalised, one-to-one sessions for intermediate and advanced English speakers, particularly international professionals, university students and applicants. Together, we will work on expressing your ideas clearly, choosing appropriate language and responding thoughtfully to questions. Each lesson starts with your goals. We might discuss a topical article, rehearse a job or university interview, practise a presentation, or explore a realistic workplace situation. I will give you specific feedback on your wording, structure and delivery, with practical points to work on between sessions. You are welcome to bring your own presentation, interview questions or discussion topics. I graduated with a First in Law from Oxford and completed the Bachelor of Civil Law before training as a barrister. I am now a non-practising barrister with substantial experience in banking, business leadership and international consultancy. My approach draws on years of explaining complex ideas, presenting arguments and working with people across cultures. Lessons normally last 60 minutes and are available online to students worldwide, with in-person sessions also possible in and around London. My aim is to help you communicate with clarity and confidence in situations that matter to you.

Linguistics: Phrase Structure, Transformational Grammar and the Minimalist Program

Linguistics: Phrase Structure, Transformational Grammar and the Minimalist Program

The Chomskian Linguistics model: what this course focuses on and how I can help you The premise: A theory of universal grammar that aims to explain why syntax has the properties it does, and how the human child comes to the world with ‘genetic guidance’ in their native language competence. This is a cognitive approach to grammar, not merely taxonomic (I am aware that most schools in the UK don’t teach grammar). Some parts of the theory (which spans 70 years to date) are taught in different universities at different stages of its development. Students have approached me to know more (or clarify) the Minimalist program (1995 onwards) which has aimed to reduce the conceptual apparatus and simplify the theory. We shall look at VPISH (VP-internal subject hypothesis) and VP shells as well as doing away with intermediate projections which have relied on X-bar theory. The latter is still taught at some freshers’ classes. A good grasp of grammatical categories (noun, verb, adverb) will be necessary as well as grammatical functions (predicate, subject, inflection, adjunct). Some courses are still relying on binding and c-command, as well as other theoretical landmarks which are necessary for understanding the evolution of the theoretical model. Exercises set and essay titles will rely on the student’s targeted requirements (as per their own university). For those who want to prepare for a forthcoming university course, or wish to explore this grammatical model, we shall follow UK authors who have shown a more sympathetic approach to learning.

English SL and Higher Level for the International Baccalaureate is a rigorous course, especially for ESL students. I completed the IB with HL English and received a 7 (highest mark) in my final exam. I will be able to go over both Standard Level and Higher Level syllabuses for the course specific to the material covered in your school, and prepare you for mock and final exams. I will include essay writing skills, literary criticism and analysis, as well as vocabulary expansion techniques in my teaching. Math , French, English , Science, Test preparation , Boost up class

Math , French, English , Science, Test preparation , Boost up class

I specialize in tutoring math, English , French and Science for school and the SAT exams. I have a very good teaching experience working with children and I got the chance to enhance my teaching skills during the pandemic when all educational institutions had to switch to online teaching. I successfully managed good discipline, good time management to assure completeness of syllabus and also fun loving class with good results at the end. I am confident about my abilities to make students love what they are being taught and be happy to join a class. The willingness and eagerness of joining a class is a two way traffic: both student and tutor must feel that eagerness and love to learn and teach. My own love for teaching creates a positive atmosphere that inspire students. I enjoy creating lesson plans that help students understand the subject . One of my strength as a teacher is my ability to establish strong relationships with my students. I believe that creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment is key to fostering student engagement and success. This class is for French beginners. I will start as simple as doing phonics and make you acquire the accent. In a globalized world, being able to speak a second or third language is something that offers people value for the rest of their lives. While there is a lot of evidence that says the younger a child learns, the better, children acquire pronunciation, accent, and grammar rules best. At the start , it will seem difficult or maybe impossible , but once you can onboard with me , after every lesson you will feel more confident. Class for Math , English and Science is basically for those attending primary school and sitting for SAT exams. A good start of preparing ,understanding and knowing where the child needs more support is very crucial. I assign simple homework to better understand their weakness and strengths and hereafter recommend handbooks as per their needs and we work together for better results.

“ We had our very first lesson with Valentin yesterday and I have decided to continue developing my skills in French language together with him due to various reasons... First of all Valentin has all the required communication skills which makes him a desirable teacher together with his kind and friendly approach. Moreover from the very first session he started to build a structure on which we can work on together. He also seems to be a good observer who can detect and correct the mistakes I make as well as providing me the right knowledge in order to improve my French as we proceed together. I would recommend Valentin if you need assistance with learning French at any level. ”

“ We had our first tuition session with Nazia, and we couldn’t be happier! She knew exactly how to approach our son and kept him engaged and focused throughout the whole hour. He felt very comfortable with her, which was lovely to see, and he’s already looking forward to his next lesson. We’re really pleased with how the first session went and look forward to continue. ”

“ great experience! we only had couple of hours of conversation, as I wanted to take the rust off my French during a trip in Paris. she was very open, easy-going and at the same time very helpful in pointing-out prononciation, words that I didn't know, etc. I'm sure she's great for classes over a longer time period too. highly recommended. ”
