Linguistics: Phrase Structure, Transformational Grammar and the Minimalist ProgramTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Linguistics: Phrase Structure, Transformational Grammar and the Minimalist ProgramTranslate this text using Google Translate.

The Chomskian Linguistics model: what this course focuses on and how I can help you The premise: A theory of universal grammar that aims to explain why syntax has the properties it does, and how the human child comes to the world with ‘genetic guidance’ in their native language competence. This is a cognitive approach to grammar, not merely taxonomic (I am aware that most schools in the UK don’t teach grammar). Some parts of the theory (which spans 70 years to date) are taught in different universities at different stages of its development. Students have approached me to know more (or clarify) the Minimalist program (1995 onwards) which has aimed to reduce the conceptual apparatus and simplify the theory. We shall look at VPISH (VP-internal subject hypothesis) and VP shells as well as doing away with intermediate projections which have relied on X-bar theory. The latter is still taught at some freshers’ classes. A good grasp of grammatical categories (noun, verb, adverb) will be necessary as well as grammatical functions (predicate, subject, inflection, adjunct). Some courses are still relying on binding and c-command, as well as other theoretical landmarks which are necessary for understanding the evolution of the theoretical model. Exercises set and essay titles will rely on the student’s targeted requirements (as per their own university). For those who want to prepare for a forthcoming university course, or wish to explore this grammatical model, we shall follow UK authors who have shown a more sympathetic approach to learning.

👋🏼 Hello! I'm Francesca. Do you want to learn or improve your Italian? No problem, more than 300 students have studied with me and learned while having fun. I started teaching at 19 thanks to the director of my high school and I have more than 15 years of experience, in Italy and abroad, all over the world thanks to the internet. I offer online Italian courses for all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced learners, i.e., C2. I always have quality reference books to recommend to students. My classes are highly personalized and tailored to the specific needs of each student. I guarantee quality because I put a lot of passion and care into everything I do, trying not to overlook the details. 🚀 During the lessons, I will help you learn the basics of general Italian, paying attention to pronunciation and intonation while reading. I am always attentive to the needs of the students and ready to tailor my lessons. My lessons are an investment for the present and the future because they are prepared with passion, a lot of experience, and dedication 🧡. 🌟 If you are a beginner, don't worry because I take great care to make you feel comfortable. ➡️ I work on different levels: conversation on different topics, grammar, reading, writing, dictation and games (role-playing games in which the student can test himself by communicating in a natural and practical way with the teacher, as in real life). In addition, preparation for official language certificates (CELI, CILS, PLIDA), the Swiss maturity exam, apprenticeship as a commercial employee CFC and tailor-made courses in a certain professional field. ➡️ All levels: A1-C2

Physics and Maths Tutor for all ages (GCSE, A-Level, Primary, Secondary School) including exam practiceTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Physics and Maths Tutor for all ages (GCSE, A-Level, Primary, Secondary School) including exam practiceTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Just done your mock exams? Are you ready to pull your grades all the way up? Or maybe looking to secure your 'safe' grade? Look no further. As a full time Data Lead and Exams Officer at Conisborough College, I have a unique view of performance metrics, and the latest knowledge on GCSE exams. With a specialism in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, my style of teaching is an expression of my experiences as a student and a tutor. My past tutoring experiences range from teaching secondary school classrooms and a lot of work with 1-on-1's. While I have had State Schooling my successful early experiences with exams (SATS, GCSEs) set me up with a solid foundation and ideal to approach exams by myself and eventually find my area of expertise in everything Maths and Physics. When it comes to exam preparation, my strategy is always textbook oriented. My principle in education has always been to know what I don't know and then deal with my not-knowing of that chapter/area. I like to use what is known/understood as a warm up and get creative with it, probing the student's baselines and tactics. The warm up also gives you the winning-feeling about the subject and this is a feeling that grows and brings clarity such that it guides me year in, year out to go and understand every chapter to answer every topical exam question, and it can for you too. I offer in person, and online teaching and am willing to provide references on demand, but first let's have a video call to discuss your needs further! Do you speak French? Have you just passed your practice exams? Are you ready to boost your grades? Or perhaps you're just looking to secure your "safe" grade? Look no further. As Data Lead and Exams Manager at Conisborough College, I have unique insight into performance metrics and the latest developments in GCSE exams. Specializing in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Physics, my teaching approach reflects my experiences as a student and tutor. I have extensive teaching experience, both in classrooms in secondary schools and in individual tutoring sessions. Although I received a state education, my successful experiences with exams (SATS, GCSEs) gave me a solid foundation and an ideal method for approaching exams independently. This is how I was able to specialize in Mathematics and Physics. When it comes to exam preparation, my strategy always relies on textbooks. My learning principle is simple: identify what I don't know, then address those gaps. I like to start with what is already known and understood, using it as a warm-up. This allows me to assess the student's level and strategies, while making learning more dynamic and creative. This warm-up also gives you a sense of achievement, which strengthens over time and provides essential clarity. It's this approach that has allowed me, year after year, to assimilate each chapter and be able to answer each exam question. It can do the same for you. I offer in-person and online classes and can provide references upon request. But first, let's discuss your needs over a video call!

Im Yong Zhi, a 2nd-year Electrical and Electronic Engineering student at Imperial College London, with a strong academic background in mathematics and physical sciences. I achieved 4 A* grades at A-Level, including a Top In The World award for Mathematics, and I was awarded the Dean’s List in my first year at Imperial (top 5% of the cohort). I have over a year of online tutoring experience, specialising in GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics, as well as admissions-focused preparation for highly competitive exams such as ESAT and Oxbridge/Imperial entrance pathways. My approach focuses on building deep conceptual understanding alongside strong exam technique. I prioritise helping students become confident problem-solvers rather than relying on memorisation, and I tailor each session to the student’s specific weaknesses and exam goals. For exam preparation, I emphasise: Breaking down difficult topics into clear, structured steps Developing efficient problem-solving strategies under time pressure Targeted practice using past-paper style questions Improving accuracy, speed, and exam confidence Whether the goal is securing top GCSE/A-Level grades or preparing for competitive university admissions, I aim to provide structured, high-impact support that is focused on measurable improvement.

Imperial College Student teaching Environmental Management and BiologyTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Imperial College Student teaching Environmental Management and BiologyTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Hello! I am a first year Geology undergraduate student studying at Imperial College London in the Department of Earth Sciences and Engineering. I am pursuing an integrated, four years, Bachelor's and Masters degree here. I look forward to teaching as I am passionate for helping others learn and succeed not only academically but develop skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and time management which are essential in professional lives too. I enjoy sharing my expertise and learning strategies in particular subjects with other students struggling in them and boosting their confidence and academic performance while they help me improve my own knowledge and interpersonal skills. I am very much familiar with the GCSE and A-level syllabus of Biology and Environmental Management. I believe in providing thorough understanding of a concept from the foundation level and building up on the knowledge according to the ease of the student, providing specific attention and help in difficult areas of study; using diagrams, online videos and lectures to explain the concept in a comprehensive manner. Moreover the students' progress will be monitored and tracked through short weekly assessments based on past paper questions allowing the student to be comfortable with the exam-style questions and avoid falling for the exam pressure. Please feel free to reach out if you have further questions and I hope to teach you soon!
