My name is Lucy and I live in West Sussex. I am fascinated by languages and communication and I have gained a wealth of experience in teaching and learning French, Spanish and English. In 2013 I achieved my Level 5 Trinity College London Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I have have 8 years of classroom and private tutoring experience. My expertise is grammar: I am very skilled in this area having spent a lot of time studying. I have also gained plenty of experience in helping students with their speaking and listening skills. I am qualified to teach adults and teenagers, and have also gained experience in providing foreign primary school children with an introduction to the English language. In 2017 I graduated with a 2:1 in French and Hispanic studies. In my third year at University I studied and worked abroad in Paris and Madrid. In Paris I was the English teacher of a small private school and I was in charge of designing the curriculum, teaching all the lessons, and creating an end of term assessment. In Madrid I was self employed and privately tutored several students with lessons tailored to their requirements. For example, one student wanted to improve conversation skills for her job as she was required to communicate with clients in the UK, so we focused on business conversation skills in English. In June 2020 I will qualify as a Secondary Teacher of French and Spanish, teaching up to A level (Key Stage 5). I am currently on a SCITT PGCE course (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) which means I have been in the classroom since September gaining plenty of experience teaching the languages. Before beginning my ITT (Initial Teacher Training) year, I completed a 6 month Subject Knowledge Enhancer which involved studying the different modules of the GCSE and A level syllabuses and preparing a presentation on teaching each module to a class. This course has helped me understand exactly what is expected of the students during Key Stages 4 and 5 and I received excellent feedback on my achievements. I like to ask the students what they would like to learn from my lessons. What are their goals. I think it's really important to be on the same page, so we can work in the same direction together and it makes things easier. I can adapt easily to different kind of teachings. People are different and they don't always have the same way to learn. I can start from the basics (learning how to pronounce the letters right, feminine and masculine of words, grammar, verbs, etc.) I can only teach oral lessons if is what the person wants. I like working with a lot of examples and visuals.

I am a trained French teacher with a degree in linguistics. I have been teaching since 2012 and I support candidates in improving their French and preparing for official exams. The preparation is fully tailored to your level, the date of your exam and the skills you need to strengthen. We are working on the different challenges: - listening comprehension; - understanding of written texts; - written production; - oral production. The goal is not only to improve your French, but also to understand what examiners expect and to learn how to respond effectively to exam instructions. Depending on your needs, we can work on methodology, organization of ideas, argumentation, grammar, vocabulary, time management and correction of written or oral productions. Exercises and practice topics may be offered between lessons to track your progress and identify areas that require more work. As the exam approaches, we can also carry out simulations under conditions close to the real test, particularly for oral production.
