I support upper secondary and upper secondary students in French: analysis of works on the program, method of essay and commentary, and preparation for oral exams. In French, the grade almost never depends on the quantity read. It depends on the ability to construct and defend a personal interpretation—a coherent argument, a structure that progresses rather than simply juxtaposing passages, quotations that prove something instead of merely decorating. In the oral exam, there is the added challenge of having to speak for ten minutes on an excerpt without reciting. In concrete terms: — the method of the essay, the structured commentary and the summary, practiced on your own copies; — in-depth analysis of the works on the syllabus, with files that I design myself: context, reading axes, key extracts, probable oral questions; — Oral practice in real-life conditions, timed, with questions actually asked by an examiner; — language correction if necessary — syntax, punctuation, precision of vocabulary — because that's often where the points go on a good paper.
