About Me

Born in Rio de Janeiro, I started learning the guitar when i was around 12 years old. At 15, i entered the conservatory to study classical guitar and music theory. Being very interested in music composition, some years later i entered the university to study conducting and composition. During this time I discovered early music and the lute, it was love at first sight. Since then, i have been dedicating my time to study the early plucked strings instruments first in Portugal and, since some years, here in Switzerland.
All in all, i am a plucked strings enthusiast. From playing electric guitar in rock bands and pop/folk/classical music on the acoustic guitar to playing 16th and 17th century music on lutes, baroque guitar and theorbo.

In my career, my life is frozen, my Lust, my Motivation, and my Ratschläge, my life is erroneous. Even though the settings are individual and personal, the programs are different.

Since I have been teaching violin and music, not a day has gone by without me saying to myself that motivation and pleasure are the greatest drivers of learning. This is why I always favor a relaxed and work-friendly atmosphere during my classes. Technique is of course of great importance to me.
I teach musical initiation, music theory and the viola which I practiced in chamber music and of course the violin, my main instrument with which I perform in several orchestras and ensembles.

My primary focus is on creating a personal connection and approach to the chosen instruments and to music in general. This includes (depending on your wishes, of course) your own musical expression, improvisation, songwriting (with lyrics if desired), song accompaniment and improvisation, as well as music theory and instrument-specific references.

Stylistically, the focus is on blues, rock, folk pop and world music, with strong references and influences from classical music, hip hop, electronic music and jazz.

Course for beginners and advanced students

My course focuses on the personal realtion between the individual, the chosen instruments and the music itself. This includes musical expression, improvisation, songwriting, songwriting, interpretation as well as music theory and specific aspects of the instrument.

My musical background lies between blues, folk, rock, pop and world music with influences from classical, as well as electronic music, hip hop and jazz.

I offer lessons in Classical music theory at all levels - Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Whether you're struggling with the basics, or want to take what you already know to the next level, I'll adapt our lessons to your needs and guide you through what you need to make it.

Trained in Classical and Early music, and having studied performance in harpsichord, organ, piano, classical and electric guitar, I've also studied chamber music composition and electroacoustic composition. A passionate learner myself, I have recently graduated with a Masters from the Hochschule für Musik Basel in Specialized Performance (Improvisation). These diverse experiences are necessarily integrated into what I teach and how.

In my theory classes we’ll look at the fundamentals of rhythm, pitch, solfège, intervals, key signatures, cadences, and other important groundwork whose rigorous study we can then apply to real-life examples of music, helping you acquire a sharper analytical ear.

I'm Gianni – a professional musician with over 10 years of experience and a master's degree in music education. I play guitar, double bass, and electric bass in a variety of stylistic projects.
