With over 15 years of experience, I teach singing, guitar, music theory, and music production to students that are eager to learn and broaden their skills. Hello! I'm a 16 year old student who has just finished school who is looking to help teach people how to play guitar. Guitar and music in general has always been a life long passion for me and therefore I am interested in helping spread the joy of guitar to others. I have a lot of free time as I have finished school now so I can have a very flexible schedule and will most likely be available at any time. About my guitar journey, I've been playing the guitar for 5 years now and have received a merit in grade 8 acoustic guitar. Now I am currently working to achieve my diploma in electric guitar and therefore can be of help in teaching either acoustic or electric. I have had past experience in helping teach young children guitar, volunteering in the Red Rooster program at my school, Dartford Grammar School, in which I helped teach 7-11 year olds how to play guitar. My name is Luke and I am a 24 year old, multi-award winning guitarist from Greenwich, London.
I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher and am adept at all varieties of guitar playing, including, classical, acoustic, electric and bass.

Regarding my previous experience in tutoring, I have given 1000's of hours of guitar tuition both privately and in school settings. These experiences have given me a keen sense of how to motivate students and offer them concise and useful advice. I have worked at many excellent institutions in the past, including Streatham and Clapham Girls' School (one of the top private girls schools in the country), Orpington Music Studio, The Royal Arsenal School of Music and Canada Blanch Music Academy.

I have found over my experiences of being taught and then eventually teaching that the best method for getting the most out of a student is to listen. If the tutor is acutely aware of where their student needs help and where they are already confident, they can tailor classes carefully to make the best use of the time allowed and to get the maximum potential out of them. This philosophy leads to classes being student-oriented, in that the student leads the tuition. The tutor acts as a supportive crutch, first working through problems together, then allowing them to explore it themselves with the tutor to lean back on.

In my first years of training, like many others, I completed grades. Because of this I have a very good knowledge of what it takes to move along this system. However, the grade system should not be seen as the only way to learn an instrument. My class is for anyone interested in music as a tool for life. The focus is to learn how to play an instrument and also cultivate mindfulness habits. I have taught with my own method for 20 years to hundreds of students from all walks of life.

We start our session with a short mindfulness exercise and then you'll learn how to play your chosen instrument through your favourite songs. If you're interested we can also then start to learn how to write songs and even record them!
