Singing lessons for beginners and intermediate students

I am a recent music graduate and have experience already teaching singing and piano. I aspire to help people understand the value of music and improve their level. I am also available to teach music theory in conjunction with instruments or by itself. I am able to teach singing to grade 8 and beyond, and piano and theory to grade 5.

I have been teaching classical and electric guitar for 20 years to students of all ages (from 6 -7) and levels of preparedness. My classes are not just about learning, but also about the joy of playing the guitar while making the learning easy, stress-free, and most of all - fun, so you or your kids would want to continue! The classes can go from the basics to learning the scales and chords, transcribing the licks of your favorite guitar players, improvising solos and playing your favorite songs and compositions. I also have experience preparing students (both adults and children) for the ABRSM guitar exam (exam board of the Royal Schools of Music) with excellent results. I ́m a profesional Opera Singer, who is also giving lessons in vocal technique since 7 years. This class is for begginers and intermedium level singers who want to improve the manage of their voices. The class starts with different vocalizations and breathing exercises to warm the body and start to understand how the voice works. Then we start to sing in order to apply the new concepts to different songs. The class its adaptable to every pupil, because everyone has their one vocal history, which means, they have different problem, which need differents aproaches.

From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

After dedicating 14 years to mastering the guitar, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of guitar playing, encompassing both foundational techniques and advanced music theory. In these lessons, I'll be sharing the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over this extensive period of learning. I will be covering a broad range of guitar techniques, including fingerpicking, strumming techniques, major and minor chords, power chords, barre chords, riffs, scales, finger warm-ups, practising any song of your choice, string bending, pull-offs, hammer-ons, harmonics, strumming patterns, and slides. All are provided with diagrams etc. For music theory, I will begin by covering the fundamentals, including notes, strings, and the musical 12-note chromatic scale alphabet on the guitar. As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!) Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other! One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it. I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and a distinction in Fashion Communication which included my music playing at Central Saint Martins. I also have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before. The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.

You are using your voice everyday. Speaking all day at work, or with your friends at the party, sometimes getting your voice tired. This problem is common for the people, who speak with their vocal chords making their throat and neck muscles tight. The right way of using your voice and your vocal chords is going to make your life so much easier even if you don't sing. The singing requires many skills from using your resonators and vocal chords, to a correct breathing using diaphragm.
