Italian Tutoring Classes are offered to students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced speakers who simply want to carry out conversations.

My name is Mariavittoria and I am from Abruzzo, Italy. I have experience teaching the Italian language to foreign students of all ages and levels, from primary school pupils to seniors who simply wished to expand their knowledge with the acquisition of a new language. I spent the last year teaching and tutoring field stud techniques and skills for Geography at Lochranza Centre CIC, an outdoor education center on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. While studying Social Anthropology and Politics, I would like to exploit my love for languages as well as my inner desire of bringing with me a piece of my cultural background. Teaching is a mutual exchange in which everyone can enlarge his points of view. My lessons are shaped according to needs and goals students want to meet. I think everyone has his own better way of learning and peculiar strengths and weaknesses, and it is important to know these ones in order to succeed.
I adopt an innovative approach, which involves speaking, listening and studying with interactive media. My purpose is to work on the four parts of the language (Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading). I carefully select the material I use.
I want my lessons to be stimulating and consider them to be a moment of mutual growth. I like my students to be enthusiastic of learning and always ready to be challenged.
I have studied Latin language and literature, Italian, Ancient Greek, philosophy (etcetera) for 5 years and I have been teaching for three years. Thanks to private tutoring, I have developed a profound empathy (it is important to recognise needs and skills of students since I tailor my classes according to their attitudes and levels) as well as effective methods to overcome difficulties learners would eventually meet.
I'm very dynamic so I do not want standard classes in which students simply receive notions, but a stimulating environment where everyone can learn by getting into Italian culture as well as making comparisons and discussing about different topics.

I'm offering Italian lessons for all levels (beginner, intermediate and advance ). I'm covering grammar, reading, writing and literature too. Italian is my second language as I've spent 5 years in Florence as a kid. Falling in love with Italian language and culture I've decided to study it. I have a Bachelor's degree from Italian language & literature and enjoy giving my knowledge to others. I can travel to your home also. I speak English fluently and can help with your English too as I've attended English lessons since I was six.

The class is intended for people who wish to know more about italian language and culture. Classes are structured on italian conversations and/or italian history and culture (food, modern history, cinema..). Requests from students will be added to the classes if possible :)

My teaching method consists to speak only in Italian, with children and with adults, because in my opinion this is the best way to learn a foreign language.
The teaching method that I use with children consists in making them learn Italian through play, singing songs, reading stories and always talking to them in Italian so that they can learn new words everyday.
The method that I use with adults consists in making sure that they learn Italian by always speaking in Italian, have conversation in Italian, study grammar, do written excercises, listening excercises.
I will start from the basic level and then go a higher level.

I’m a mother-tongue speaker in English and Italian and I have achieved a B2 in the Spanish DELE qualifications. I am also an experienced language tutor, having taught students of all ages and level over the course of the past five years.

I am fluent in both languages and have just received a First Class degree in Spanish and Italian from the University of Edinburgh. I cater each lesson to the individual as I understand that each student has a different way of learning. I concentrate mainly on vital skills like reading, writing and listening. I have 4 years of experience and can offer support for upcoming National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher exams as well as GCSE and A Level.

My lessons are a mix of conversational Italian and grammar explanations, with the aid of written and online resources to practice vocabulary and grammar. I typically start from the Italian words and expressions you might already know (everyone knows more Italian than they think!) and take it from there, with plenty of simulated scenarios where you get to speak like a native among natives (and I get to ridicule myself imitating all sorts of Italian people!).

When explaining a new topic, I like to encourage students to use their insight, nudging them when necessary. I have observed how even absolute beginners can easily guess the meaning of a new word or the way a certain word will behave, once certain patterns between and within Italian and English (and possibly other languages) are highlighted. When a student reaches the correct conclusion with just a little help, that is highly rewarding for both the student and the teacher!

For more advanced students, the focus is often on vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar nuances. I like to choose a topic together and subsequently bring a written text (like a newspaper article), from which to extract more specialised vocabulary, and which will serve as a basis for discussions and debates.
