About Me
My musical, academic, and professional journey has been shaped by a my deep commitment to humility and dedication. Growing up in New Orleans immersed me in a living musical lineage, one created by artists and composers whose creativity emerged from resilience and community. I see my own work as part of this continuum, honoring those traditions while seeking to contribute new perspectives and original compositions. My education at NOCCA and Oberlin College affirmed my commitment to artistic excellence and creativity. Studying with pianists such as Dan Wall, Luis Perdomo, and Sullivan Fortner challenged me to refine my technique and develop a clear musical identity, while studying for a degree in Africana Studies provided frameworks for understanding heritage, identity, and the social contexts in which we exist across various cultures and locations across the world. Professionally, I have been fortunate to perform in various ensembles, venues, and tours that have sharpened my musical and artistic voice. Performing with artists such as Weedie Braimah, Jon Faddis, Trombone Shorty, and Jessie Mcbride further connected me to different musical traditions in which I consider myself well-versed in. I view the piano as a conduit of responsibility and connection, a plane where listening, leadership and mutual support are essential.
