Learn to express yourself through textiles, a diverse and mindful craft.

I offer classes that explore abstract expression in embroidery, beadwork, embellishments, and patchwork.

We look at the history of folk art and craft as a source of inspiration to create personal textile artworks. In the past, students have made stuffed toys, quilts, wall hanging, clothing and samplers.

All materials will be provided, including vintage fabrics, trimmings, embellishments, threads and tools.
Extra information
All materials are provided, bring any sources of inspiration if you have them.

About Me
I am a textile artist who loves to share diverse techniques to empower people to create their own, highly personal textile artworks.

For many years I worked at the V&A as a photographer and catalogue of objects in the Fashion and Textiles department. Here, I developed my knowledge of folk art collections across the world and started to make my own artwork based on these techniques.

I am passionate about colour, texture and creative expression through the medium of textiles and offer exciting lessons suited to anyone with an interest in developing their creative voice and learning textile techniques.

I pride myself on making my lessons accessible and welcoming, bringing enthusiasm and passion to each session.

One of the main goals I try to achieve as a tutor is to encourage my students to explore the world around them from a new perspective. With 1-1 teaching, I am able to create lessons that are specifically tailored to my student's interests, weaknesses and concerns and from this nurture a solid learning style that they will be able to take with them to further education. Currently, I am studying for my second degree in History of Art and have strong and extensive knowledge in structuring essays and approaches to the humanities. Honing and improving essay writing skills will prove invaluable to students when reaching higher education and exams which I believe my tutelage would help with!
I usually have a methodical approach to learning where each lesson is planned out with upcoming exams, weak subjects and repeated mistakes in mind. I always find that my students work better when they have small and achievable goals to reach in each session. As an example, my lessons are structured with upcoming homework as a first target with each subject's homework being one goal smashed. After that, revision or any marked work with mistakes/problem areas is looked into and divided into sections/goals that they can achieve. I usually create a points system where with enough points they win a small prize. This is not a requirement of my teaching but I find it works very well! I also discuss with parents before starting tutorials what they know to be their weaker academic points, how best they respond to teaching and any feedback they may have from teachers with regard to the work outside school. Lessons are always planned with the student's learning style in mind and I am always open to adapting and receiving feedback from parents, teachers and students. Should a student find my teaching style, not to their liking, I will always be happy to change and amend my style to fit them.

I am a Goldsmiths BA Fine art second year. I do paintings and scultings mainly and sculptural paintings. I love to understand and feel the materials and use the materialities' characteristics and histories to symbolise meanings in my work.

My class would be suitable for potential young childrens or teenagers who are interested in art or want to get into art. As art is the language for me, I would love my students to enjoy and show their creativity in my class and I would help them to develop and create actual works in real life.

There would be no pressure in this class I have experice of tutoring 10year old child and he was enjoying every class. He had ADHD and showed ADHD behaviours during class but as a neurodivergent person I gave him a breaks during classes and talked about his interests so I could figure out what he is interested in so I could prepare next class for him and at the same time the kid could had his little refreshment from doing art work. And I had 1:1 meetings with their parents because they wanted to know how it went and how he was behaving so I gave her a lot of feedbacks from my perspective (I did let her know it is from my perspective) .

My dream is to be an artist/ art professor(university tutor) as I also had mental health issues so I am aware of how to deal with people who should I take more care of and also as a neurodivergent person I could deal with neurodivergent students:)

My curriculum would be very personalised by students.
