About Me

Nathan has performed extensively in concert and cabaret all over the world. He was a regular performer at London’s Pizza On The Park, playing five solo seasons there, including Facing The Music – the Fred Astaire songbook. He was also seen there in Jeff Harnar’s The 1959 Broadway Songbook, Something Wonderful with Craig Rubano and Heather MacRae and Catch Us If You Can with Lee Lessack. Other solo engagements include Jermyn Street Theatre, Covent Garden Theatre Museum, Giardini del Baraccano - Bologna, Don’t Tell Mama – NYC and for Holland America, Saga and Spirit Of Adventure cruises.
Musical Director credits include Closer Than Ever – dir. Richard Maltby Jr. (Jermyn Street), Accidents & Emergencies (Lost), Dorothy Fields Forever (Kings Head), Unite For The Future (Old Vic), Helen Lederer’s One Night Stand (national tour), Elegies (Arts), Nine (Teatro San Martino – Bologna), Assassins (New End), After The Fair (Kings Head) and Bastien and Bastienne (BAC). Education

Nathan is a Certified Master Teacher of Estill Voice Training and a member of The British Voice Association. He was a vocal coach for the second series of ITV’s Popstar to Operastar and has taught at The Actor’s Centre, Bird College Of Performing Arts, Drama Studio London and given masterclasses at The Bernstein School of Musical Theatre, Bologna and for Laboratorio IALS Musical di Roma. In October 2011 Nathan spoke on the Musical Theatre voice at La Voce Artistica international voice conference in Ravenna.
He currently teaches at Mountview and has a private practice where his students range from beginners to established professionals, many performing principal roles in plays and musicals both in the UK and internationally.

Hello! My name is Emily and I’m a professional singer and a passionate and experienced singing and piano teacher with 15 years of teaching experience to students of all ages and abilities.

In your singing lessons, we will work on building your technique and musicality, your repertoire in multiple genres as well as your confidence as a performer. I teach a solid classical based technique which can then be applied to multiple genres of music. As an accomplished pianist I will accompany you at the piano as you sing your chosen songs. (For online lessons I will find suitable backing tracks.)

In your piano lessons, for beginners - I will determine the appropriate starting materials based on your age, innate ability, and level of understanding. For those who have already been learning and are looking to resume their studies, I will facilitate a seamless and supportive transition. I will work closely with you to gain a thorough understanding of your needs and ensure the most effective path forward.

If you are interested in having both singing and piano lessons, you can have an hour lesson comprising of half singing and half piano.

I have over 10 years of experience in preparing students for exam grades, and work with the ABRSM syllabus and the Trinity syllabus. My students have a 100% pass rate, with the majority achieving a Merit or Distinction.

In the singing lesson we look at breathing, vocal technique, language, expression and interpretation. I take much pleasure in watching a student grow and facilitating their development and helping them on their own path. The most important thing to me is that they enjoy using their voice and telling a story through music.

I have recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a Master of Music degree with distinction. Through the developing of my private practice, I am becoming increasingly interested and deeply passionate about teaching singing and singing pedagogy. For me, music – and especially singing – is all about communication, between performer and audience, between composer and performer/audience, between teacher and student; it is about conveying a story and human emotions that people can relate to and that give us a sense of connection and belonging. Singing Ethos:
My belief is that everyone can learn to sing when taught properly and holistically and can experience the joy of discovering the unique qualities of their individual voice. This is a joy which I share with my students and why I find teaching so rewarding. My experience is predominantly (but not exclusively) with children and I love to watch as their love for their voice grows.

What you can expect:
I believe it is important to teach with an emphasis on technique and vocal health, so from the first few lessons students learn about the body and the way the voice works. I address this through exercises and breathing techniques as well as songs appropriate to age and stage; (usually based around the appropriate ABRSM Grades). I strive to create a fun, nurturing environment where learning and confidence can be optimised.
I currently study with Sophie Grimmer, a highly respected and accomplished vocal teacher based in London who has performed at venues across Europe and London such as ENO. Therefore everything I teach my own students is informed by the world class tuition I am lucky enough to receive, (but of course adjusted so that it is age appropriate). This ensures that the tuition I give is always current and reflects the ever evolving industry standards for vocal tuition.

Singing is good for the soul and I believe that everyone and anyone can learn to sing! I’ve been a professional classical singer for 15 years now, touring all over the world with UK-based ensembles and singing in some of the most incredible concert halls. I studied music at Oxford University and did a postgraduate in singing at Trinity Laban and am passionate about music education. I’ve taught all ages from 3-year-olds to 70-year-olds in workshops and on a one-to-one basis. I offer lessons focussing on vocal health and confidence, improving range, learning new repertoire or improving current repertoire, working towards exams and performances, choral singing techniques, or just singing for simple enjoyment!
