A 24-year-old Finnish violinist, Marju, began playing the violin at the age of 8. She graduated from the University of the Arts, Helsinki, with a Master's degree in violin performance. She has also complimented her studies at the Royal Academy of Music, in London. Since 2016, Marju has actively performed with professional orchestras throughout Europe. Alongside with orchestral work, she has been performing gigs in the most renowned venues.

My main goals as a teacher are to help my students improve their technical skill, mature their musical ideas and learn effective practice methods.

The outline of my typical lesson consists of scales, a study and a piece. This creates a solid technical foundation while also expanding the students repertoire. Depending on the student’s goals, I can also incorporate aural/ sight reading practice into the lesson to move onto the ABRSM or Trinity syllabus to prepare for graded exams.

My name is Maria and I am a professional Violinist. My second instrument is Piano. I have done my music education in Bulgaria and after that I went to Belgium to complete my Master 's degree. Teaching since 2008 I have a good experience working with children and adults . I am familiar with ABRSM Grade system. My teaching process is based on the classical methodical rules, but I am teaching other musical styles as well, such as folk, basic jazz or improvisation (for advanced students). For beginners: songs, games, improvisation, creation. The links with song and rhythm are very important to have a healthy foundation. The musical notions are approached gradually by experience then by recognition. Reading and writing are brought about by creation and musical composition.

For the more experienced, polyphony and difficult passages can be approached with different tools, by awareness of harmony and melodic modes and polyrhythm. Sometimes it is enough to be aware of simplicity to overcome difficult passages.

I push to go further in the quality of the interpretation with simple means to better understand the music and thus allow more expressiveness and freedom.

I also offer improvisation, harmony,
lessons in musical ensembles, especially vocal polyphony for children, and lessons for specific needs, for example just intonation for singers or other instruments.
