About Me

I am Aruni from Sri Lanka and have 11 years experience in teaching mathematics and statistics for secondary students and teacher trainees. I have a huge passion for teaching mathematics. It is a subject I feel entirely confident in, and I have an ability to teach in a simple, yet highly effective manner for students of all standards and abilities. Further, I have excellent communication skills; I am flexible and adaptable in my approach to teaching and always deliver positive results.

Through these maths classes you can improve your problem solving skills, reasoning skills, logical thinking skills while learning such abstract maths concepts in more convenient ways.

You will learn the introductory and advanced level of psychology. Research methodologies used in social sciences will also be covered.
High school to graduate level will be covered. Lessons will be tailored according to the learning objectives and students pace of learning.

Mathematics at high school and university level can be challenging initially. I intend to provide the necessary toolkits that will help them build problem solving skills and an analytical point of view.

Regular assignments will be given and progress reports will be provided (if required).

I specialise in tutoring English and Mathematics to Upper Primary aged pupils (9 -12 years of age), an area in which I have extensive experience. My aim is to create a relaxed and pleasant learning experience tailored to individual pupil's needs.

By way of background information, I have many years experience in primary education, successively as a classroom teacher, Assistant Head/ Acting Headteacher and also, as a Senior University Lecturer working in Teacher Education, before taking early retirement because of family illness. I am fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) and also hold a current Protection of Vulneralble Groups (PVG) certificate

I can offer one - to one teaching in my own home in Lanark provided the student is accompanied by a responsible adult. Alternatively I am happy to travel up to 15 miles to conduct sessions in the students own home. I also offer online lessons via webcam.
