His performances have taken him to national and international music venues, festivals, and tours ranging on different styles of music. Having graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire (BMus Hons Jazz Studies) and also completing the 8th Grade (ABRSM) on Classical Saxophone Rafael has long been enthusiastic about studying jazz and classical music on the saxophone. During all his formative years and most of his career he has enjoyed every opportunity to share his passion through music by being an inspiring, supportive and encouraging woodwind teacher. Over the last 8 years of private instruction experience Rafael has been working as a Woodwind Teacher (saxophone, flute, and clarinet) on both classical and jazz music. He believes in creating a friendly and professional atmosphere making sure that students feel supported on their individual musical journey, by giving them the knowledge necessary for reaching their personal aspirations. Rafael has helped many students of all levels and ages to make fast improvement. Over the years he has shown high levels of knowledge having taught music theory (classical & Jazz), Jazz improvisation, composition (classical & Jazz) as well as has successfully preparing students for all the different types of exams such as GCSE, A-Level exams, and ABRSM, LCM, LSM, Trinity College London (TCL), RSM, Rock School. Furthermore, Rafael has conducted few practical 15min seminars on “How to play the saxophone” and also 30min workshop on “Jazz Improvisation” for a community jazz big band (Note Benders) First Lesson Typically, the first lesson begins with an introduction and informal chat where Rafael and his students get to know each other and discuss the student’s musical interests and aspirations. Rafael offers a wide range of experiences and is interested in focusing on ways to help each student achieve their maximum potential. Whatever your background, age group or level, whether you coming to instruction for the first time, returning after many years, continuing study after conservatory, preparing for exams or even on a professional path Rafael has enough knowledge. He’s able to adapt his instruction according to individual needs and preferences of each student by providing books, exercises and/or repertoire. In-person lessons usually take place at Rafael’s teaching studio or alternatively on student’s chosen location. Beginners Rafael understands that starting your journey on learning a new musical instrument can be difficult which is why he’s always a supportive and encouraging teacher towards new students. Beginner students don’t need to have any prior experience whatsoever when it comes to either playing or being able to read music. On the 1st lesson usually there’s no need to own an instrument as Rafael will provide everything necessary and guide each student on the basics of how to play the instrument they’re learning. By the end of the 1st lesson students are usually able to play a few notes on the instrument and have all the basic knowledge needed to start learning and begin their musical journey. To benefit from Rafael’s teaching, it’s recommended that student have their own instrument (Saxophone, Clarinet or Flute) although, Rafael has knowledge on available and affordable instrument hire services as well as provides guidance to all students on purchasing their first instrument

Trusted teacher: Isaac is an award-winning clarinettist, teacher and arranger. He graduated with Distinction from the Royal College of Music as an HR Taylor Trust Scholar, studying Masters of Performance. In 2021, he graduated first class as a Bachelor of Music from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he won the college's Concerto Competition. He is originally from a small village in Northamptonshire. At a young age, Isaac has a wealth of experience in teaching across all levels of education. He has managed his private studio for half a decade, whilst currently holding the position of woodwind tutor at West London Free School, previously Loughton Music Academy Trust and World Heart Beat Music Academy. Alongside working with RCM & RWCMD Juniors departments, and RCM Sparks programmes as workshop support staff, Isaac has worked with the outreach departments of the London Mozart Players, Neville Holt Opera and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He is also an ongoing self-employed tutor at BSharp Studios, Marie de Bry Arts Academy, Forte Lessons, Lycaeum Tutors, and London Music Tutors; he is also on the roster of the RCM Teaching Service. In 2022, his wind quintet, Ormonde Ensemble, won a place on the Wigmore Hall Chamber Tots Training and Development Scheme, a unique opportunity for musicians to develop their skills and experience as supporting musicians in early-year practice. Isaac approaches teaching with a young, fresh mindset with a heavy focus on a strong musical foundation, problem-solving, practice “hacking”, determination and, above all, enjoyment. He has been commended for his relatability and calm, patient but efficient manner. He believes that the perfect teacher enables the pupil to become their own teacher! Being able to have clear direction and goals is of paramount importance. Also, having the capacity to ask “Why is this working/not working?” and having ideas on how to fix them is the fastest way to progress. After studying performance psychology alongside his clarinet studies at RCM and during his exchange in Finland, Isaac is deeply passionate about how the mind affects how we play and practice. He draws mostly from academics such as Anders Ericsson and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, and countless world-leading clarinet players whom he has been fortunate to learn from. Being an active professional musician by trade means Isaac is always striving to be on the top of his playing, which bolsters teaching practices immensely, allowing lessons to be driven through first-hand and recent experiences. This facilitates constantly fresh ideas for his pupils to work on alongside regular fundamentals. Isaac works regularly as a guest with some of the top orchestras in the country, such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and London Mozart Players, among others. He has recently been appointed as one of the Philharmonia’s ‘MMSF Emerging Artists’ for the 2023/24 season. Isaac’s rates factor in all the financial obligations of being self-employed, such as holiday pay, sick pay, pension contributions, familial leave, additional travel, increased preparation time or greater responsibility. Current inflation rates, including global food prices and transport costs, are also a continual factor in the fee. They also follow the recommended teaching rates for this location put forward by the Musician's Union, of which Isaac is a member. This is to avoid undercutting other tutors, whilst still wishing to provide affordable lessons. Lessons can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes: 30 minutes is ideal for young beginners, 45 for adult beginners and older pupils. 60 minutes for advanced players or those who wish to learn Music Theory in tandem. Do get in touch with Isaac to organise a lesson in Chiswick or the surrounding areas (within reason and subject to travel costs included), or to request more info!

Trusted teacher: SPECIALISED IN TEACHING ADULTS. Would you like to learn one of the instruments which have more style possibilities? Would you like to know why many composers say that is a very powerful instrument because it fits in may situations? Did you know that in the Klezmer history clarinet substituted the violin for projection reasons but also because perfectly able to imitate the human voice, crying or laughing? Would you like to discover the fascinating world of clarinet? One of my priorities as a musician is the sound. I believe that with a beautiful and personal sound you are able at every level to transmit emotion and meaning, it doesn’t matter the difficulty or the level. So I try to focus first on awareness of what’s beautiful for the student and what’s not. Then through technique and repertoire (suggestions of the student or suggestions of mine that can help to grow the student curiosity), we develop the student knowledge. Always helping the student to understand -depending on his/her the theoretical level- what we are doing, putting together music and theory. And giving tools to expand the border, at all levels. I have knowledge and experience in Jazz, Classical, Klezmer, Choro Music and Improvisation. You just need a precious element! • Music Theory I focus on having a good basics, spending as much as we need to understand every single thing, because then with times it becomes more easy. I try to help the student simplifying the material because then, we only with ourselves with a good procedure of the basics to solve any problem. Only with one lesson, you will understand what I mean. I have experience in preparing students for exams, the ones for the semester as well as any official exam; doesn't matter if you have an intermediate theory level and you want to improve, or if you would like to be stronger solidifying the knowledge you have (which is always the best option), or if you don’t know anything about notes and music concepts and you would like to be familiar with them. Maybe you are an adult who always wanted to improvise but doesn’t know where to start...? The only thing you need is a good organization -which I can provide- to reach any goal!

There aren't many people around who have experience playing bass clarinet and can present material for beginners. Guillermo is an excellent teacher on various woodwind instruments. I was able to learn a lot and develop technique with Guillermo to play bb and bass clarinets. Much appreciated!
