From 69 £ /h
I am a PGDE qualified teacher with over 3 years experience of working both in a secondary school and as a private tutor.
I have worked with students preparing for both 11+ and 13+ exams who have been accepted into their first choice schools.
I plan stimulating and engaging lessons which have been deemed ‘outstanding’ by external observers.
I enjoy seeing fast and sustained progress in the students I mentor, who feel a sense of accomplishment from their sessions with me because of the positive feedback they receive.

Experience / Qualifications
I have taught years 7 to 11 for the last two years, preparing students for their GCSEs as well as assisting with sixth form applications and personal statements. I have also worked as a private tutor specialising in 11+ and 13+ entrance examination preparation
I have extensive experience of differentiating my teaching to suit the needs and abilities of students and therefore aim to set clear and concise lesson objectives which are unique to each student I tutor. I am quick to identify weaknesses or misconceptions and aim to target these in an engaging and supportive way. I use encouragement to ensure that self-esteem is not compromised and create a safe space where mistakes are embraced as an essential part of the learning process.
I will often refer back to relevant exam specifications to pinpoint the essential information which allows more complex material to be later accessed, and apply a great deal of attention to effective exam technique. I will use different forms of assessment throughout lessons to measure understanding and progress towards meeting the learning objectives and will use this to inform future planning. I am also happy to set and mark homework should this be helpful for the student I am working with.
