With many years of experience in writing music for various visual mediums, I can provide tuition to those starting out, or help enhance the skills of those who have been composing for a while but want to specialize in syncing their music to the moving image.

My classes will focus on the following scoring techniques:

- technical aspects of composing to picture on a computer
- understanding a brief
- analyzing a scene
- identifying and conveying the correct emotion
- writing in different styles and genres

I will also touch upon several key business aspects, including:

- getting started in the industry
- working with clients
- how to deliver your music
- negotiating budgets

My primary digital audio workstation (DAW) is Logic Pro X, but my classes are still suitable for those who use work in other workstations.

About Me

I am an award-winning composer who can write in a wide range of musical styles and genres across differing visual mediums. I have written music for numerous short films, for commercial use and for several stock licensing agencies. I also compose, produce, mix and master all my own music.

I am a guitarist, but I also own and play various other acoustic instruments, mainly to capture realism and authenticity in my music. As a sound designer as well, I blend non-traditional instruments with found sounds and electronics to achieve a unique tone and voice.

I am also a published composer with UK based publisher, EditionDB, who hold the scores to some of my concert music.

Education

I have completed a BA in Music Composition degree at the University of West London.

I have since completed a MA in Professional Media Composition with ThinkSpace Education.

Music Production for Beginners

My personally designed Music Production course is aimed at complete beginners who have the desire to discover how to compose, record and produce their own music. The course is structured in a way that will enable you to make the style of music you love. It is ideal for aspiring composer’s, producer’s, musicians and sound engineer’s.

For this course you will have the opportunity to learn either Logic Pro or Ableton Live (GarageBand is also an option to get you underway), both are industry leading digital audio workstations (DAW). Each session is tailored to your personal interests and goals, exploring both the theory and practical applications of working techniques and practices, in order to provide you with a solid foundation of the overall production process. Lessons are held one-to-one to allow you to learn at your own pace and receive the resources and support you require. I will continuously keep track of and review your progress so that your objectives are always being pursued.

Logic Pro X is a useful DAW softwares for not only musicians, but singers, voice actors and even for podcasting. Throughout the lessons, you will learn all the basic techniques on how to record, mix, use compression, quantise and understand the functions of mastering tracks.

If you are a beginner and want to learn Logic Pro X, this is the place for you! Completely beginner friendly and easy to follow! After the lesson, you will be making great music with a better understand of recording and mixing tracks.

Songwriting is a fantastic skill whether you are a beginner or want to improve your songwriting capabilities. Not only will your musical abilities improve but so will you english language capabilities as we look to marry music and lyrics in the best possible way. Not only is it a great industry to get into, songwriting has enormous benefits to mental health as it provides a platform for creative expression which in my many years of experience has helped so many of my younger as well as older students. In my class, you will learn the foundations behind creating a great song including: Songwriting forms and structure in all genres, music theory and understanding chord progressions and modes, breaking music theory conventions in order to create a unique sound, great songwriting tools to help with 'writers block', performance coaching and how to convey your songs message on stage as well as all things music industry, including the importance of copyright and how to protect your songs. My students will be working with me on constructing songs as beginners and my more experienced songwriting students will work with professional music industry briefs that I will provide. Students will be able to write songs comfortably and autonomously after only a handful of lessons with me.
