Maths, English and any Primary School Subjects Tutoring

I specialise in tutoring children still in primary education. My lessons are designed to help children with subjects they may be struggling with or providing that extra extension! I have taught from Reception/Kindergarten up to Year 6; I was head of Maths and French as well as head of Year 3. As head of maths, I am trained in Singapore Maths - an innovative approach to mathematics which takes a from the ground up approach; teaching children a deeper understanding of the patterns and links between numbers rather than learning by rote or memorisation. I have a wealth of experience and am very well versed in how to plan sessions to support, engage and ensure children progress across all subjects. Differentiate tasks to their needs whilst ensuring they are being challenged, and most importantly - always making it fun!

About Me

I am a trained primary school teacher with over 5 years of classroom teaching experience in an Ofsted Outstanding London Primary School. I have just returned from a sabbatical year and now find myself in a position to support children who are currently out of school and in need of extracurricular support.

Education

My Bachelor's Degree was in Sociology, I then straight after completed my Masters in Child Studies. This was a multidisciplinary degree focussing on the academic and analytical approach to modern-day issues of childhood. After a couple of years working in the charity sector (I worked for UNICEF UK) I then went into teaching.

Experience / Qualifications

I have taught from Reception up to Year 6; I was head of Maths, French and RE in as well as Year 3 Year Group Leader in my last position. As head of maths, I was trained in Singapore Maths, an approach to mathematics that takes a from the ground up approach, teaching children a deeper understanding of the patterns and links between numbers rather than learning by rote or memorization. I have a wealth of experience in the KS1 and KS2 curriculum and am very well versed in how to plan sessions to support, engage, and ensure children progress across all subjects. Differentiate tasks to their needs whilst ensuring they are being challenged!

Nora
Foreign Language tutoring, Spanish, English or Norwegian
I am a professional dancer and language enthusiast, with a passion for teaching. Fluent in English, Spanish, French and Norwegian. I am a university student currently working on a degree in Spanish language and literature and history of the Spanish speaking world. I can help you whether you are a beginner wanting to learn a new language, preparing for an internship or studies abroad, or if you are in school and need some help preparing for tests and exams. My teaching is tailored to each student and how they best learn. My goal is to keep all my lessons fun, interactive and dynamic, with a focus on efficient learning and motivation. Being a professional dance artist with experience from teaching dance, I believe gives me a creative approach to tutoring language. Why do I want to work as a tutor? Because I want to share my love and passion for the language and the joy it brings me with my students. Having studied Spanish all through my years in school, I know that learning a language in school can be challenging, and I want to help with that.

Lily
University Student offers tutoring in French, and English
In a multicultural work like ours, where most of the world is bilingual, knowing a second language is always an asset, and it helps you develop your cognitive capacities. Learning a new language can sound difficult and scary. Well, think again! I've been in your shoes, and I have found that learning a second language is much easier if you link it to something you already enjoy. In my classes, you will improve your speaking, reading, listening, and comprehension through practical exercises around a subject you enjoy, whether that is History, Sciences, Arts, or Sports.

Molly

Mark
English for professionals (refresher, fluency, conversation ...)
***** My availability varies according to the slots reserved by the pupils / students. To gain efficiency, I will send you a link to my "google agenda". You will be able to position our sessions more quickly ***** Hello, I offer you my expertise and experience to (re) upgrade you in English. I can intervene at the following levels: - School: * (primary school: initiation) => Cambridge tests 'Starters - Movers - Flyers' & others. * (college-high school) => remediation / upgrading in grammar + other language activities such as Oral / Writing Comprehension or Continuous Speaking / Interaction) - Superior (CPGE, IEP prep, TOEFL, iELTS, Cambridge First Certificate, Advanced Certificate ...) (Preparation for tests such as "Tremplin-Passerelle-Passerelle2- Ecricome" ...) (English for Interns in medicine ...) (Linguistics / phonology / didactics for the English CAPES ... or other competition like the CRPE) - I accompany and have accompanied many adults who needed to be / become truly successful in speaking / writing in English as part of their professional activities (fluency, accent reduction, grammar. ...) or as part of resuming studies. Note that I am not this young student who had a good mark in the Baccalaureate or this other who is supposedly bilingual. I am a linguist by training and author of a textbook in this capacity. I have been teaching as a teacher in the National Education since 1995. Teaching cannot be improvised. It is not an activity that we do "like that". I offer you the fruit of my expertise and my experience as well as the perspective of an educational professional who knows the system perfectly from the "inside". By the way, did you know that to have 10/20 in the Baccalaureate, it is enough to have level A2 (which is theoretically expected at the end of 3rd year) so I let you imagine the despair of students who are starting higher studies and who learn that they will have to obtain at least 750 in the TOEIC! (the equivalent of level B2!) to see their diploma approved. 2 tips for students: "your TOEIC / IELTS score, it is from L1 that you must prepare it" "if you want to be able to write - English read, understood and spoken in your CV - well it is also from L1 that you must train yourself to speak English, to read in English and of course to write. * Daily monitoring possible via the internet: to learn modern foreign languages, it is always more profitable to work a little each day. It is possible to consider placing slots of 15 or 20 minutes of intensive work on one type of activity several times a week. (See the "memorization" video in the 'Surfonsdoc Orléans-Tours' channel on youtube) -> Look for "debbinghaus curve" on google. * Each course is prepared according to your personal needs. Feedback is always given at the end of the session. * One of the fields in which I specialize is "phonology": intonation, word stress, connections ... In short, everything that relates to oral grammar. If you are tired of being immediately spotted as the man in the video "the i rabbit (you will find it in a few clicks on youtube)) See you soon! Please do not hesitate to contact me for further details.

Elise
French private lessons by university graduate in Letters
French private lessons are for students wishing: - consolidate their bases in grammar, spelling - improve their language skills (allophone students) - improve their speaking skills (conversation classes) -profect the written expression - ECR exams - prepare for the written examinations at the end of the studies (maturity, certificate of completion) - help with the writing of works of maturity (or other works of end of studies), of dissertation - work on argumentative texts - acquire a method to analyze literary texts - fill gaps - improve their spelling - prepare for oral exams (maturity, compulsory leaving certificates) - learn how to perform bibliographic research For help with writing: The objective is above all to acquire effective tools. The pupil will thus be able to learn to structure his ideas, to argue in a coherent (and convincing) way and to enrich his vocabulary. For the corrections of end of studies work: so that the meeting with the student is at the most profitable, I ask him to send me his writings before the meeting. Apart from my presence with the student, any course involves a preparation time before and after the lesson, including the work that I correct. My goal is to design an individualized course, so I take the time to write detailed comments on corrected work or tips to ensure maximum success for everyone. For example, an editorial correction can easily be the subject of a detailed commentary of 4 typewritten pages. For adults (FLE): In order to optimally prepare the first ones, I take the initiative to inform myself in advance of their objectives / expectations. Whether to practice speaking in everyday life, the professional world or to practice oral presentations, I prepare either PPT or technical sheets in advance that I send by mail ( after booking on the website). The other alternative is to make a PV of the course that I send (or that I print). Giving importance to keeping a written record on the one hand to better memorize the topics covered, on the other hand to better assimilate the spelling. Of a general nature, a concrete situation that responds to the learner's needs is the starting point. From this situation, I address the essential grammatical points.
