A realised voice requires no attention on mechanics so that an individual can realise their performance potential. My aim is to support the strengthening and toning of the voice so that even in stressful scenarios, such as making a presentation or performing on stage, the individual can focus on delivering an engaging performance rather than having to think about vocal technicalities.

I am a trained professional singer with a Bachelors degree in music from the University of Bristol. As well as singing, I play piano and conduct a professional choir. I'm based near Blackhorse Road station in Walthamstow and teach in my house. I teach all ages and all levels for singing and am happy either working towards grades or just singing for fun. I also teach music theory up to grade 5 to provide pupils with a strong foundation for progressing to the higher grades. I am able to provide socially distant lessons within my own home as well as online. For me the most important thing about music lessons is that they should be enjoyable, whether or not you are working towards an exam. Singing can improve confidence in young children, provide a space to let off some steam for adults or anything in between. I tweak my lesson style based on what you want to get out of the time. I have a 100% pass rate for all my pupils for both singing and theory.

I am a professional opera singer, currently studying a Master's at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having performed numerous operas, oratorios and song recitals, I have a in depth and far reaching knowledge of the classical vocal repertoire and a good command of the musical theatre repertoire. Whether you are using it professionally or for fun, I am a strong believer that establishing excellent technique is essential to developing a voice. I work from the premise that no two voices are the same and I tailor lessons to suit my students. We will work on technique, repertoire, interpretation and, where appropriate, language skills. Together, we can work on building a healthy voice and compiling a book of repertoire to help you prepare for exams or recitals. The aim of a lesson is to achieve vocal freedom, which will allow the student to approach repertoire healthily and confidently without fear of the voice giving out. Whatever age, skill level or intention for using the voice, this will ultimately make singing more enjoyable! I have experience coaching choirs and working with young people, particularly with Cambiata North West. I have extensive training in music and singing and have attended The Brit School, gaining Triple Distinction* as well as Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where I graduated this year with a first class honours degree. For five months of my degree I was awarded an Erasmus scholarship to study Norwegian folk music at The Grieg Academy, Norway. This trip helped to sculpt my music and my current projects take a lot of influence from folk as well as free jazz and free improvisation. I have taught privately for two years after training for eight years. I teach budding vocalists of all ages. I have helped prepare students for exams as well as encouraged students back into singing after years out of practice. I like to take a creative approach with students, to engage with them about short and long term goals as well as encouraging them to keep practice diaries to document their progress and for self evaluation. I am very passionate about teaching as I believe it is one of the most rewarding activities - watching someone grow as they learn not only the basics of technique but when they start to develop their own sound.
