My previous tutors include Richard Ayres, Wim Henderickx, Richard Causton, Edwin Roxburgh, Ed Bennett, Joe Cutler, and Howard Skempton. I have also taken master classes from Rebecca Saunders, Mario Garuti, Anna Korsun, and Colin Matthews. I was the winner of the Orchestre Nouvelle Generation Composers Competition 2016/17, and the Birmingham Conservatoire Orchestral Composition Prize 2015. Distinguished ensembles and performers who have performed my works include the DoelenKwartet, HERMESensemble, Syzygy Quartet, Ossian Ensemble, Noszferatu, Decibel, David Le Page, Patrick Johnson, Sara Minelli, Rowland Sutherland, and Colin Alexander. My compositions have been featured at world-famous festivals including the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam and TROMP Percussion Festival and at venues such as Kings Place and Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, as well as various venues throughout Europe, North America, and South Africa. In addition to classical composition, I also write advert soundtracks on a regular basis for clients such as GHD, Lanvin, Japanese Vogue, Mariana Jungman (London Fashion Week), Cent Magazine, and Face Lace. I have completed a number of scores for award-winning short films 'Wanted' by Graeme Montgomery, and 'Genesis' by Beatrix Haxby. I am also a bassoonist, having studied with Adam Mackenzie (New London Chamber Ensemble) and John Orford (London Sinfonietta). I was a member of Essex Youth Orchestra for four years, and have written a new repertoire for the instrument including a number of Concert Studies and also a Bassoon Quartet. I am also an active DJ under the alias 'Delian Sound', playing eclectic sets from Garage to Jungle. I studied with international artists including Kasey Riot and Noah Priddle at the London Sound Academy and have performed in venues such as SET, Dalston alongside artists including Chiminyo and D’vo. Tutoring Experience: From 2009-2011 I taught Drumkit to students aged between 10-15 at a local Rock & Pop School. I've also been involved in a number of music courses for children between 2009-2014 as a Supervisor / Sound Technician. In 2016 I began giving private lessons and built up a group of over 20 pupils ranging from 5-year-olds to adults through positive word-of-mouth. Between April-July 2017, I was contacted by a local primary school to give small group lessons in Piano and Guitar. Alongside my studies in Amsterdam, I continued to teach a similarly wide age range of pupils. Since 2019 I have taught Composition & Musicianship at the Saffron Walden Centre for Young Musicians. I have an Enhanced DBS check, available upon request. Tutoring Approach: My philosophy in Music Tuition is to improve the student's technique through exercises and pieces which they enjoy. I also provide general music education as I believe in a holistic approach, and increasing their passion for music which will increase their motivation for practice and improvement.

Do you have trouble reading music? Do you love listening to music, but don't understand time signatures, keys or chords? Music theory often sounds abstract, but with the right explanation and concrete examples it suddenly becomes a lot more logical, and even fun :) For whom? - Beginner or advanced musicians who want to better understand what they are doing. - Students preparing for music theory exams (e.g. music school, entrance exams). - Independent artists/producers who want to deepen their musical knowledge. - Anyone who is curious about the language behind music. What can you expect? - Clear explanation, at your own pace. - Theory made immediately applicable with examples on the piano. - Extra attention to insight instead of learning dry rules by heart. - Tutoring fully tailored to your level and goal (classical, pop, songwriting, production, ...). About me I obtained a Grade 8 diploma in Music Theory and also a Grade 8 Piano from the Royal Schools of Music. In addition, I hold a diploma in Audio Engineering from Hofa College. I am active as a music artist and producer myself. Thanks to this combination of classical training and practical experience, I know how important it is to make theory understandable, concrete, and musical. I use my own piano during lessons to clarify everything visually and audibly. Possible topics: - Learn to read music. - Scales, chords & harmony. - Form and analysis (classical, jazz or pop). - Rhythm, time signatures & tempo. - Music theory for producers/songwriters. - Songwriting. - Preparation for exams or entrance tests. You can spend years learning one new piece after another and still remain at roughly the same level: reading note by note, struggling to see the connections within the music, and feeling helpless without a teacher. The repertoire changes, while the quality of playing, musical thinking and independence change very little. I do not believe this should be the normal outcome of piano lessons. The most valuable part of playing the piano is the feeling of genuinely owning the music: being able to enter its world, experience it fully and bring your own musical hearing to life at the instrument. My role as a teacher is to make the path from the score to that state as direct and natural as possible. I teach music as a system and a language. Students learn to see the musical logic behind the notation: to understand harmony and form, follow the direction of a phrase, recognise style and character, and gradually become more fluent and independent musicians. My teaching is rooted in the Russian academic piano tradition, but the repertoire can be classical, modern, film, anime or jazz-oriented. What matters is that the work remains serious, attentive and musically meaningful. I work with motivated teenagers and adults, from beginners to advanced players. With beginners, I aim to make score reading fluent and natural as early as possible while developing an understanding of how music works from the inside. If a student already plays but feels stuck, I identify what is actually limiting further progress. Difficulties that seem separate are often connected, and I work with the underlying cause rather than treating each symptom in isolation. After a long break, I help bring existing knowledge and skills back into active use, identify the genuine gaps and organise what remains into a working system from which the student can move forward. With advanced students, the work can include mental practice and principles from Stanislavski’s system. I am a concert pianist and piano educator with 23 years of teaching experience, from private work with students of different levels to university-level teaching at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. I graduated with honours from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and later completed postgraduate studies there. For more than twenty years I performed in Russia and internationally across Europe, Asia and South America. I received first prizes at the Salieri–Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition in Italy in 2010 and the Max Reger Chamber Music Competition in Germany in 2011, and recorded two albums for the Melodiya label. Lessons are fully online and taught in English.
