As a composer and producer with wide ranging skills, I balance tailoring my lessons to each individual pupil, while also looking to broaden their musical abilities with relatable knowledge. For example, teaching classical composers recording and mixing techniques to help them create recordings of their works, or teaching dance music producers jazz harmony to create interesting chord sequences.

I am also able to provide support for GCSE/BTec/A Level courses.

Extra information

Ideally I prefer my pupils to travel to my home to make use of my setup, but we can form other arrangements if appropriate.

About Me

Bristol based composer/sonic artist, and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama graduate, I produce works in a broad range of musical styles, electronic and acoustic.

Specialising in technology based forms of composition, I have been involved in a spectrum of collaborative projects as a composer and producer. Previous works include contemporary composition for concert, installation based works, recording and producing with several bands, while also being a frequent composer for theatre.

Ableton Live is as powerful software for musicians of all sorts. As a musician you will need to be able to understand physics of sound and its vibration through many exciting useful FX plugins and Virtual Instruments ( VSTs).
I have designed this course as a practical guide to Electronic Music production specifically made for people who don’t know where to start.   You will learn how to make a composition, with your own recordings, create multi track music projects and use advanced techniques not only to have fun with it but also to compose you own songs without anyones help.

I am a songwriter of 6 years experience, having written with unsigned and signed artists at every skill level. I've taken ideas from the drawing board and handed them over to producers as fully formed songs.

Lessons typically run for an hour as we:
- Bring and share ideas (or the lack thereof)
- Gather up some inspiration
- Write together
- Dissect our favourite songs.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make music on a computer but not known where to start?

I specialise in composing and designing sound using various DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations). I am also an adept mixing engineer with a additional knowledge in mastering audio. My goal is to help students learn music production techniques associated with software so that they can realise their own creative ideas. I like to assign work to keep students progressing in their own time. I also provide tutorial sessions, as an opportunity to review progress and define goals.

The class I teach is for aspiring producers/composers and the classes are tailored to each individuals ability level. You will learn a variety of techniques which can be used to fuel/enhance the creative elements of making music.

I specialise in private violin tuition and music theory tuition for people of any level of experience from beginner to intermediate level. My aim is to work with my students in a personalized lesson format, teaching them new pieces, grades, furthering their current skill set and introducing them to new challenges in the musical world.

I am a Trombone, Music Theory, Music Technology, Studio Techniques, and Composition tutor based in Bristol, UK, with over 10 years of experience in performance and in the music industry. I have been playing trombone since the age of 9, and have studied and performed in a range of styles, from classical and jazz to reggae, soul, funk, ska, pop, and rock. I started playing with professional orchestras while still a teenager, and have studied with Amos Miller, Paul Nieman, and Adrian France, each of whom has taught me essential practices and techniques in a variety of styles. I have performed and recorded with a number of successful groups, ensembles, and projects, which include: Hotsteppas & Dub Princess, Timbali, Eastone Rockers, Lil Maxine, Fat Mark, Waggle Dance Records/The Co-operators, Wheel Up Records/Calculus, Gwari Music, Zoe Mazah, Rob Symmeonn, Urban Lions, Frankie, and the Heartstrings, Euphony Collective, Toothless Mary, Sussex Jazz Orchestra, and Martha Hill.

I studied for a year at the Royal College of Music aged 17 and went on to study at Newcastle University, achieving 2:1 honors in 2015. In September 2021, I graduated a Master's degree in Innovation In Sound with Distinction, from DBS Sound & Music Institute, which has led me to work as a recording and live sound engineer with Eastone Recordings, a small Bristol-based studio, and production company.

I have taught music theory for 7 years, helping students to reach Grade 5 and above, enabling them to progress in their musicianship, and to go on to study music at university. I believe that theory is not only an incredibly important part of learning music but can also be a fun way to engage with the different elements of music. Practical application of theory, as well as purely theoretical learning, is an essential way of solidifying the knowledge, and how I believe theory should be taught. Having studied Trombone, Piano, and Music Theory I have intimate knowledge of the ABRSM Grades and can offer tuition to help students achieve the grades they need.

I also offer Music Technology, Studio Techniques, and Composition tuition which is informed by my work as a professional recording engineer, and through my research into experimental and extended studio practice. I have also gained writing and arranging credits for many of the groups listed above, composing for brass and whole ensembles. With this experience, I can offer expert assistance and guidance with students’ compositions, as well as the equipment and set up to help with this process, both at home and at the studio I work in.

Why not try a new instrument?
I offer 1:1 tuition for clarinet and saxophone of all levels. This can be for musical grades, or just for fun!

I can also help with grades 1-5 music theory training for any musician, who needs to complete these levels to progress into higher instrumental grades.

Training your voice can be incredibly rewarding. Singing has the power to move us emotionally, calm the nervous system, and help explore a range of emotions we don't get to explore with our voices day to day. Whether you're a starting out and looking to explore or needing to work on a deeper level with interpretation, technique, building strength in the voice, I can help in a number of different areas.
I am trained in both classical and jazz technique and theory and hold a Bachelor in Jazz performance. I spent a large part of my singing career singing pop, RnB, folk and contemporary styles.
I love to help people find their voice and can assist with songwriting techniques, arrangement, composition, music theory or music production.
I studied at Berklee College of Music and taught song production and vocal styles at BIMM Berlin. I have a very colourful background as a professional singer and can help with auditions, exams, build up to a performance and much more.
