Using jazz music as my specialism, I am able to teach even the most technically challenging concepts in their most basic forms and transfer them to the guitar in their most simple terms. I have taught the guitar, music theory and GCSE and A-Level Music syllabuses for six years to students of all ages and abilities and across every imaginable genre.

Everyone is musical to learn music! I offer instrumental lessons for piano and Guzheng to students of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of your level of proficiency. Whether you prefer classical or pop music, you will find something that suits your taste. I also provide lessons Western music theory ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 8, as well as Chinese music theory lessons. You can also opt to take Graded examinations for international recognition of your progress in music. I am proud to say that my students have a 100% passing rate. This class is for beginner and intermediate musicians who wish to improve their musicianship, whether it be for leisure purposes or preparing for exams such as GCSE, A-Level, ABRSM or equivalent. I can provide tutoring on piano, composition, music theory, 4 part harmony/counterpoint, or any combinations thereof.

I am a composer/pianist currently studying at Royal College of Music. I started studying music at quite young, but never found my passion in it until my late teenage years. Now music is such an integral part of my life and well being, and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experiences to support others on their musical journeys. As a teacher I am very flexible and can adapt to how you want to learn, I also take a creative approach to teaching piano so that my students develop their musicianship and composition skills while learning the piano. As a composer, I always bring elements of music theory and composition into my piano teaching, so that my students can develop their musicianship and creativity while improving their piano playing skills. My teaching philosophy is that the most important aspect of learning music is to find one’s interest and passion in it, and my goal as a teacher is to support my students and help them find their passion in music; However, I am familiar with the ABRSM examinations and have a Grade 8 certificate myself, and I always tailor my lessons to different students based on what they are looking for.

You will learn how to play the piano or hone your existing skills. Do you want to play your favorite songs and impress your friends? Learn to disassemble complex compositions on your own? Or prepare for admission? We will focus on those aspects that will lead you to the goal as quickly and efficiently as possible. You can take lessons even if: - Never played music before; - You do not know musical notation and are not familiar with the technique of playing the instrument; - Think it's too late for you to learn. Depending on your goals, there will be less or more theory in the course. We will select exercises for you to develop your pianistic technique. What will you learn: 1) Learn to play with two hands: You will immediately learn to play with two hands, and after a few lessons you will see that it is not as difficult as it seems. 2) You will be able to play compositions from memory: You will be able to show off your piano playing skills to your friends in a month, in the classroom you will learn compositions that you are interested in playing. 3) Learn to read music: Music will no longer be an unknown language for you. You will see how all these incomprehensible symbols easily turn into a melody. 4) Develop a sense of rhythm: Practicing the piano develops a sense of rhythm - you can better feel the music. 5) Become happier and more musical: You will be able to express your feelings in a new way. And you will also hear music in a new way - you will be able to distinguish previously imperceptible details in familiar compositions. 6) You will be able to disassemble the compositions yourself: You will be able to disassemble the notes yourself and learn the composition you like. Personal description: I am a professional classical musician, with a master’s degree in flute playing and years of experience playing solo, chamber music and with orchestras internationally. I offer Flute and Music Theory lessons to children and adults of all ages, skill levels (grades 1 through 8 and beyond). Also I offer Piano lessons for beginners (grades 1 and 2). Tutoring experience: I have worked in the National School of Arts “Prof. L. Pipkoff” Sofia, Bulgaria. My class had children of different ages and mastery of the subject. I prepared them for national exams and concert appearances. I’ve also given privet lessons. Tutoring approach: Since every pupil is different, I believe that a good teacher always adjusts his methods to the needs and personality of his student. I strive to provide a structured and clear lesson, while focusing on music as something to be enjoyed. I work with the requirements of the grade system (from grade 1 to grade 8). In the process the child will learn: Instrumental techniques, music literacy, correct breathing and ear training.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

I specialise in advanced Classical and Jazz Piano, Composition and Arranging, as well as fundamentals of Theory of Music for students from ABRSM Grade 5 to Diploma level. I offer substantial discounts for families and for bundles of 5 or 10 lessons. I have a well-equipped studio with a new grand piano as well as other keyboards and music tech gear, and teach both in-person for students living in Edinburgh, and online internationally. As many of my students are from Edinburgh university, where I also teach Orchestration and Screen Composition, daytime lessons can be flexible from week to week. My classes are helpful to students seeking to pass the higher performance and theory grade examinations, as well as to university undergraduates seeking to fill knowledge gaps and to explore composition and orchestration in greater depth. Students I have taught invariably achieve excellent results, as high as 144/150 in recent ABRSM practical piano examinations, and as high as 100% in Theory of Music. I also teach Music Technology, specialising in Cubase DAW as well as Sibelius and Dorico scorewriter applications.

Both programs can be combined depending on the focus and the profile of the student, or in case the student would like to go deeper in one of the previously mentioned subjects there is the opportunity to take an independent course of specialization on the desired topic. At the end of the semester every student will perform at the winter and summer concerts held every year and will have the possibility of making a recording session with the material worked during the term. With this, the student will not only be able to see his progress and work, but also will give him a direct experience of performing and working on a live or studio recording session, which is a fundamental part of the developing process of every musician. Hey! My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels. For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that! Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else.
