Reflecting on my experience as a secondary school student, I encountered challenges in grasping scientific concepts. However, my physics teacher employed diverse range of teaching methods to explain these ideas. This personal journey underscored for me that being an exceptional teacher goes beyond the mere transmission of information and aiding students in exam success. Instead, it emphasizes the need for educators to possess the ability to ignite students' enthusiasm for knowledge and curiosity. I particularly enjoy teaching adolescents, children aged thirteen to sixteen due to the countless challenges they face during this transitional phase into adulthood. Consequently, I seize opportunities in my lessons to offer emotional guidance when applicable. Throughout my teaching career at the secondary level, I have gained the expertise to instil confidence in this age group by employing strategies both within and beyond the classroom. Additionally, I have acquired the skills to intellectually and socially engage them, fostering the confidence needed for active participation in various activities.

Hello GCSE students and parents! My name is Klaudia, I am 21 years old and I currently work as a secondary school tutor/teaching assistant at Harris Academy Rainham, where I teach groups of students in math and all sciences (chemistry, biology and physics). My specialty subjects are chemistry and biology which I have studied in great depth at A-level and at university, although I am just at capable of teaching math, (which I also studied at A-level), and physics, in which I achieved an A* grade at GCSE. I fell in love with science when I was a GCSE student myself and after achieving excellent grades in both my GCSEs and A-levels, I decided to take my passion to the next level at Kings College University, where I studied BSc Biochemistry and achieved a First Class Honours. I am now keen on further extending my studies in science and therefore, I will be taking on a masters course in clinical biochemistry at Westminster university this September, which will allow me to achieve my dream career as a clinical biochemist. I have now been working as a tutor for 6 months and I can confidently say that I love teaching and working with children. My classes follow a consistent and structured layout which begin with a warm-up/re-cap of the previous lesson, followed by the presentation of my own made Powerpoints, followed by exam question practice and finishing off with a mini quiz consisting of multiple choice questions. Additionally, I like to set small homework tasks to ensure that my students are reviewing their notes out of class time. I use a range of sources to plan my lessons, including CPG textbooks, BBC bitesize and MathsMadeEasy, ensuring that all topics are covered. I can teach synergy, combined and triple science, targeting all grades from 1 to 9. I also have younger siblings who are studying for GCSEs and I am therefore completely aware of and up to date with the school work that is expected from current GCSE students. Overall, I love my job as I find it so rewarding to help students who are struggling through, what I know is, a very stressful time. I like to help to make a difference and push students to reach their potential and achieve the good grades which they deserve and which will benefit them for the rest of their lives. I have both the experience and the knowledge to make the perfect tutor and I will happily take on some extra students out of school hours to help them achieve their goals! A little extra revision a week goes a long way!

Hi, my name is Federica and I am an astrophysicist. I obtained my PhD from ETH Zürich and, for over ten years, I have been working in international research teams, contributing to space missions such as ESA Euclid and NASA Roman, and collaborating with scientists from all over the world. For more than ten years, I have also been active in teaching, tutoring and science communication. In my teaching approach, I consider it essential to listen to the student, understand their needs, and identify the way they reason and learn best. This is key to creating a truly personalised learning path that motivates them to engage with the subject and gradually take on more advanced learning challenges. I helped several students to strengthen the foundations, identify strategic points early, and progressively work towards more advanced problem-solving and exam preparation. I do not believe in a standard “one-to-many” lesson, but rather in a learning path designed to genuinely consolidate the student’s knowledge, help them become progressively more independent, and make them aware of the practical and interdisciplinary applications that a particular subject can have in their academic journey. Ich studiere Computer Engineering an der RWTH Aachen und biete individuelle Nachhilfe in Mathematik, Physik und naturwissenschaftlichen Grundlagen an – von den ersten Grundlagen bis zur Oberstufe und zum Abitur. Besonders wichtig ist mir, dass Schülerinnen und Schüler den Stoff wirklich verstehen, anstatt Formeln und Lösungswege nur auswendig zu lernen. Ich erkläre Zusammenhänge Schritt für Schritt, passe Tempo und Schwierigkeitsgrad individuell an und arbeite gezielt an den Stellen, an denen noch Unsicherheiten bestehen. Wir können gemeinsam: - aktuelle Themen aus dem Unterricht aufarbeiten, - Hausaufgaben und Übungsaufgaben besprechen, - Wissenslücken systematisch schließen, - uns auf Klassenarbeiten, Klausuren oder das Abitur vorbereiten, - und schwierige Themen mit zusätzlichen Aufgaben festigen. In Mathematik kann ich unter anderem bei Algebra, Gleichungen, Funktionen, Geometrie, Trigonometrie, Analysis, Vektorrechnung und Wahrscheinlichkeitsrechnung helfen. In Physik unterstütze ich unter anderem bei Mechanik, Elektrizitätslehre, Energie, Schwingungen/Wellen und weiteren schulischen Themen. Durch mein Ingenieurstudium beschäftige ich mich selbst intensiv mit höherer Mathematik, Physik und technischen Anwendungen. Daher kann ich bei Bedarf auch fortgeschrittenere Schülerinnen und Schüler sowie Studienanfänger in mathematischen Grundlagen unterstützen. Der Unterricht kann auf Deutsch oder Englisch stattfinden und wird individuell an das Niveau und die Ziele des Schülers bzw. der Schülerin angepasst. Mein Ziel ist, dass Mathematik und Physik nicht mehr wie eine Sammlung zufälliger Formeln wirken, sondern Schritt für Schritt logisch und nachvollziehbar werden.
