As an educator, Fiachra is focused always on finding the way of making music which suits each of his students best, with a confident and comfortable way of working with the instrument (which then transfers into the rest of life). I am a versatile, enthusiastic and dedicated violin teacher, taking on students of all levels and ages from beginner to highly advanced. Being an internationally performing violinist, with a masters degree from both the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, I have a lot of knowledge and experience that I’ve been sharing with students over the past years and that I’d love to share with more! A big part of my teaching has developed through my own learning journey with the violin. In learning the violin, I value the importance of technique as well as creative, musical development. During a lesson I will therefore touch on technical exercises according to the students needs, improvisation to stimulate creativity and work on musical pieces. We will, during weekly lessons, work towards reaching the student’s goals with high quality results. My approach is tailored to each individual student and above all, encouraging. I have a wide knowledge of the violin repertoire and am happy to work on a student’s piece of choice as well as suggest suitable works for different levels. Additionally, I have experience working towards ABRSM grade exams amongst other assessments. I can fluently teach in English, Dutch and French.

Hello! I am a warm, encouraging and adaptable musician and am about to graduate from the Royal Academy of Music. I am an experienced teacher and have a DBS certificate. This class is an opportunity to learn violin/ viola or receive tutoring in music theory (up to Grade 8) from an enthusiastic tutor who is passionate about music education. I have a positive approach and take into account the individuals needs and personality. I believe in a whole person approach to musical education and ensuring the student is always comfortable and confident when playing and performing.

I have a real passion for music and that's why I would love to help inspire and guide new musicians on their quest to learn the violin. Age is irrelevant when it comes to my lessons but the most important thing is that the student comes with a real incentive to learn. Everyone's musical journey is different and many people decide to learn an instrument for a different reason. Therefore, the regular structure for a lesson would very much differ from person to person. For example, beginners would mostly focus on sight-reading, proper form and technique. However, someone with a slight musical background could begin by learning pieces that they want to play and I would guide them with how to encompass the piece better and make slight adjustments to their technique along the way. When it comes to young children, I've worked in nursery and primary schools with ages from 3-7. The most important thing is that they have fun during the lessons and gain a real respect for music early on. Technique, theory and sight-reading are still incredibly important but what's most important is that the child is having an enjoyable time while learning. I have a strong musical background as I've been playing violin and piano for 14 years, I also have a great understanding of music theory. I've performed in multiple concerts of sizes of up to 5000 attendees. I was also established enough to have achieved a full music scholarship to a performing arts secondary school and college. At GCSE I achieved an A* in music and I would be more than happy to help GCSE music students with their music theory and/or composition piece.
