My name's Luca and I've been a full-time professional musician for the past 10 years. I mainly work as a session musician and recording artist/producer, and also as a private guitar tutor. My goal when it comes to teaching is to share my knowledge and passion for music and to help you improving and having as much enjoyment from it as I have for it. I base my lessons on my student’s ambitions and on their weaknesses, so they can improve quickly and efficiently, without loosing interest on the instrument, and so they can reach their goals, giving them a personalised lesson plan, having fun and playing different styles and techniques. I specialise in all popular musical styles, such as Pop, R&B, Funk, Jazz, Rock and more, on both electric and acoustic guitar. Audio recording if done in right manner and with right mic-ing techniques will not depend merely on post production for it's enhancement. This consists of closed mic-ing and open mic-ing, where to use different aspects and how to apply them. For example using small diaphragm microphones for snare and larger ones for vocals. Piano It is the best tuned instrument that there is in the whole library. So, learning piano not only helps you to just play piano better but you can also do better in vocals, guitar, flute and other instruments. Music composition This module aims to develop the students’ compositional ability using a combination of key musical understanding and the practical use of music creation software. Students will have the opportunity to investigate technical and stylistic conventions across a range of contemporary western popular music genres and to study key elements such as chord progressions, structure, harmony and melody, to develop their confidence and own abilities in composition. These sessions will explore musical composition techniques used in popular and contemporary music. The focus will be on deconstructing different works, exploring what their musical elements are and investigating what commonality these have across the boundaries of genre or instrumentation. Students will have experience of composing original musical elements and arranging these elements into complete compositions.

I have instructed students of different age groups in saxophone performance and music theory (including counterpoint, harmony and composition) up until university level, in Spain and the UK. After graduating from Cambridge with a double starred first, taking into consideration my academic results and teaching experience, I have also been selected for inclusion in the Supervisor Registry to teach counterpoint and harmony papers. My approach to lessons is very flexible, and I always try to adapt to the needs and qualities of each student. I believe that communication is essential, and at the beginning of each lesson I ask my students if they found my recommendations from the previous lesson helpful and how they see their progress. After this spoken introduction, we proceed to work on some warm-up and technical exercises. Then, we play some studies and pieces, or go over some music theory exercises, trying to apply the advice from the previous lesson and make further improvements. Finally, we conclude the lesson with a summary, listing the main key points and suggestions and comparing our experience to the previous lessons, trying to find a clear sense of progression and a coherent line of work towards a certain goal. This teleological mindset occupies a central position in my methodology, and I always encourage my students to look ahead and plan a series of stimulating events or challenges to look foward to, such as a concert, a recital, a presentation or an exam.
